Reference example at the airport of Munich:

The airport and passenger handling is not as simple as it was about 30 years ago.

Today, according to the EU regulations, the airlines are responsible for testing 100 per cent of baggage for explosive substances. The fully automated testing processes take place unnoticed by passengers.

As general contractor at the airport of Munich, Aberle Automation integrated the new X-ray machines into the conveyor technique which is over 10 km long. In addition, the complete control was modernised using the latest software developments, and the old SCADA system was replaced. Aberle installed the mechanical interfaces as well as the interfaces regarding control technique for the commissioning steps. These interfaces were tested between midnight and 4 am.

After the general conditions had been generated, the host computer of terminal 1 was modernised by Aberle during the running operation.

Before the baggage is transported to the plane manually, the host computer is responsible for the temporary coordination of the baggage transport between the registration at the check-in, and the dropping of the baggage to a destination box.

The modernisation was realised within about three hours during the period in which the planes were not flying, as it was not allowed to influence the baggage handling in any event.
