Able Chiropractic Clinics are a well-established group of clinics having been formed in 1994. They are situated in North Derbyshire, in the towns of Buxton, Chesterfield and in the village of Hope, in the High Peak and have working relationships with other practices in the area. The clinics offer a wide range of general practice covering acute and chronic conditions while individual clinicians offer paediatric, sports medicine, whiplash and headache and exercise rehabilitative care.
All chiropractors working in our clinics are graduates of internationally accredited institutions and are members of the British Chiropractic Association. Chiropractors are required to ensure that if during the course of diagnosis or treatment, any contra-indications or concerns are noted and an immediate referral to either the patients general practitioner or, having informed the GP, to a relevant specialist for further investigation or attention. As a courtesy, all GP’s are informed of their patients’ attendance at our clinics to include prognosis, diagnosis and management. The clinics maintain an emergency and complaints procedure.
As a group we strive to offer the patient the best in chiropractic care and we are advocates of evidence-based practice in the treatment of all your patients' functional problems. Our clinic staff are there to assist in every possible way and to make your patients' experience at our clinics as stress free as possible. Based on this, in January 2009, we were awarded the prestigious Patient Partnership Quality Mark by the College of Chiropractors, the first clinic in the area to achieve this honour. This award was launched in October 2006 by the College’s Lay Partnership Group and recognises excellence in meeting patient expectations and needs in chiropractic care.
The clinical team is headed by Dr George Carruthers BSc DC MSc FCC(Ortho) FEAC (Ortho), who is well known in the field of chiropractic, both nationally and internationally. George holds Clinical Specialist Fellowships in Orthopaedics from both the College of Chiropractors and the European Academy of Chiropractic. He is a former President of the BCA and has held Executive positions within the ECU and the EAC. His published works have appeared in Chiropractic, Medical and Health Care journals and he has lectured in chiropractic institutions at home and abroad as well as at national and international chiropractic venues. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and the BCA, he also holds membership of the Society of Rheumatology, the Pain Society and the International Headache Society. His professional interests outwith general practice include spinal rehabilitation, whiplash injuries and headaches, and injuries in the martial artist. During his time in private practice he has served as the chiropractor for; Sheffield Wednesday Football Club (2000-2002) The Japan Shotokan Karate Association‘s Great Britain Team (2003-to date, to include two world championships; New York 2006 and Manchester 2008), Sheffield Steelers Professional Ice Hockey Team (2007-to date)
Our clinics are open six days a week and we are well placed for patient access and parking. We offer other services to include Podiatry, Counselling, Insurance Medicals, Pilates Style/Core Stability, Geriatric Exercise and Rehabilitation classes as well as Massage and Sports Therapy. We utilise the services of the local hospitals for our x-ray and MRI needs and have excellent relationships with relevant medical consultants and other health care professionals, to include General Practitioners, in our own area.
The clinics are covered by all major private health care insurers and we are currently contracted to local authorities/groups to cover their functional medical requirements. The clinics therefore welcome similar contractual agreements with either GP practices or Primary Care Trusts , where packages can be negotiated. www.ablechiropractic.co.uk
