Bacteria in wounds

Advancis Medical is the first company to recognise the many benefits that anti-bacterial Manuka honey can bring to wound management and has developed a natural resource into a modern wound management product. The Activon honey range is on FP10 (UK Drug Tariff) and is extensively available through UK pharmacies, leading wholesalers and NHS logistics. Activon is used for bacterial control, odour reduction, wound debridement and kick starting chronic wounds.

Activon Tulle, Algivon and Activon Tube bring for the first time a controlled specification of medical grade Manuka honey. Activon has been extensively tested and achieves a sustainable level of anti-bacterial activity. Activon is totally safe and clinically effective. There is more evidence to support the use of honey than any other wound dressing on the market.

Exudate Management

For exudate management Advancis has developed the Eclypse range. This super absorbent dressing rapidly wicks up exudate and has a unique fluid management system to prevent maceration of skin. This unique dressing has a high capacity minimising the number of dressing changes and has proven to be very cost effective alternative to other absorbent dressings.

A self adherent version is Eclypse Adherent which utilises soft silicone technology to provide an atraumatic method to easily fixate the dressing. It has the same capacity and fluid management system as Eclypse.

Sloughy, necrotic wounds and sinuses

Advadraw is a low adherent rapid capillary action dressing; it has a unique way of removing excessive fluid from a wound bed. A central layer within the dressing wicks fluid throughout the dressing. It can transfer fluid from one Advadraw to another and cutting into any shape will not impair its function. For sinuses Advadraw is available in a pre-cut ribbon delivered as Advadraw Spiral. It will draw fluid out of a sinus and will not break apart upon removal. This is a very versatile and cost effective way of managing some challenging wounds.

Atraumatic Dressings

The next generation of Advancis products follows on from Eclypse Adherent soft silicone technology. The dressings are targeted at minimising pain on dressing change and are particularly suited for patients with delicate or friable skin. Silfix® is a soft silicone (atraumatic) dressing technology that provides a good level of adhesion with excellent gentle release from the skin.
