Overview In today's fast-paced global economy, busy professionals are traveling more than ever. In the past, business travel meant sacrificing easy access to information and communication for mobility. Now Aerzone gives mobile professionals the freedom to travel and stay connected at the same time. Using the latest wireless and wired technology, Aerzone enables travelers to access e-mail and the Internet at speeds many times faster than dial-up connections. About Aerzone A subsidiary of SoftNet Systems, Inc. - a global provider of broadband Internet services via high-speed wireless local area networks (WLAN), satellite and cable - Aerzone was created to provide fast, convenient mobile computing and Internet services to business travelers worldwide in airports, hotels and convention centers. How WLAN Works WLAN uses radio frequencies instead of wires to securely transmit data to the Internet. Small antennas, discreetly suspended from the ceiling, relay information between a computer and the Internet at speeds up to 11Mbps - even faster than a T-1 line, and many times faster than dial-up access (wired or wireless). Placing antennas within an airport, hotel or convention center turns the building into a WLAN "hot spot." Within that area, an Aerzone Wireless subscriber can access the Internet anywhere, anytime, without having to search for a telephone connection. All the subscriber needs is a computer equipped with a WLAN access card, about the size of a credit card. Aerzone's WLAN is accessible through any equipment utilizing the IEEE 802.11b standards - from the Nokia C020 PC card designed for Windows 95/98/NT laptops to the Macintosh I-Book with a built-in Ethernet connection. Subscribers to other WLAN services can utilize Aerzone's networks through roaming agreements with other providers using the same standard. Open and flexible, Aerzone is the WLAN provider of choice for airports, hotels and convention centers. Strategic Advantages Global Reach. With its business centers, Aerzone can provide a virtual office that stretches from coast to coast and beyond. A customer can finish working on a PowerPoint presentation in one airport and pick up 50 color copies of the presentation at the Aerzone Business Center at his or her destination. In addition, Aerzone customers can rent (or buy) a WLAN card for their laptop computer at any Aerzone Business Center, and get technical assistance with set-up from the "cyber-concierge." Industry Leadership. The partners are all recognized leaders in their respective fields. Together, they create an unmatched combination of technology, customer service and content. Technology. Aerzone's WLAN uses state-of-the-art IEEE 802.11 and 802.11b standards to provide the fastest, most secure data transmission available. This also means that the service is not hardware-dependent, so any device that uses one of those two standards can access the network.
Flexibility. Unlike other service providers, Aerzone will allow customers to "roam" outside the home system in much the same way a wireless phone user does. Key Contacts SoftNet Systems, Inc.
