EUROCONTROL, the European Organisation of the Safety of Air Navigation,
currently comprising 31 Member States, provides unmatched technical
insight and expertise in European air traffic management (ATM). Its
primary objective is to develop a seamless, pan-European ATM system
that fully copes with the constant growth in air traffic, while maintaining
a high level of safety, reducing costs and respecting the environment.
- INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION ORGANISATION
ICAO is a United Nations specialized agency responsible for establishing
international standards, recommended practices and procedures, covering
the technical, economic and legal fields of international civil aviation
operations. ICAO’s membership consists of 185 Countries.
- AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL ASSOCIATION
Established in Washington in 1956, ATCA is a non-profit non-government
professional organisation that actively promotes and encourages the
advancement of aviation and air traffic control. The governing body
is composed of representatives from all areas of the aviation industry.
Membership is over 2,000 and consists of air traffic controllers,
aircraft and electronic engineers and aircraft manufacturers.
- BRITISH AIRPORTS AUTHORITY
BAA is the world’s largest commercial operator of airports. BAA provides
and manages airport facilities in the UK and overseas. They own and
operate seven airports in the UK. (Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Glasgow,
Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Southampton). Outside the UK, they manage all
or part of eight airports – Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Harrisburg and
Newark in the USA, Melbourne and Launceston in Australia, Naples in
Italy and Mauritius.
BAA International was established to develop an international business
and to invest in key overseas airports. Some of their major overseas
contracts are for the development of retail, food and beverage facilities
at airports. In Launceston, BAA is responsible for managing all airport
operations, car parking, car hire concessions, property management and
development at the airport.
