The Abart process
ensures the following important advantages compared to traditional
processes:
• Very low HF and dust emissions. Removal efficiencies of 99.4
– 99.9 %.
• Reduced investment and operational costs by lower pressure
drop and power consumption (-15%).
• More compact with less area requirements (foot print), reduced
by 50% since 1990.
• Ideal for retrofit of ageing installations.
• No alumina attrition and degradation.
• High fluoride homogeneity in the enriched alumina.
• Reduced scale formation and improved scale handling capability.
• Longer bag life, 6-8 years, and reduced dust emission, less
than 2 mg/Nm3, with new bag cleaning technology.

Four Gas Treatment Centers
(GTC), treating a total of 3 193 000 Nm3/h gas from 524 pots,
using Abart dry scrubber system and SO2 seawater scrubbers. Hydro
Aluminium explains: “New Sunndal introduces new environmental solutions,
that considerably improves the indoor environment and reduces external emissions
and noise."
