ALVEO was founded in 1971 as a joint venture company. Since 1973 it has been under 100% control of the Sekisui Chemical Company, Japan. The production units are conveniently located in Roermond, NL and Merthyr Tydfil, UK. There are nine decentralised sales offices situated in all European key markets, as well as in South America. The European Headquarters are situated in Luzern, Switzerland. ALVEO employs ca. 500 people. The turnover exceeds EUR 95 million, a share of more than 45%.

Alongside its parent company SEKISUI in Japan and sister companies VOLTEK in the USA and PILON in Australia, the group is in a unique position to offer crosslinked polyolefin foams, manufactured with specialised processes, on a global basis.

In the year 2000, ALVEO formed an alliance with Zotefoams plc., the leading manufacturer of crosslinked polyolefin block foams. This alliance combines the leading block and sheet foam products, creating a unique complementary product portfolio.

ALVEO with a co-ordinated but decentralised organisational structure is engaged in the marketing, sales, production and development of polyolefin foams. ALVEOLIT and ALVEOLEN are closed cell, physically crosslinked polyolefin foams produced in continuous sheets with two process skins. ALVEOLUX is a chemically crosslinked polyolefin foam produced in blocks. ALVEO foams are specifically designed to meet the requirements of a high number of applications. ALVEO's sales and marketing activities are divided into six segments: Consumer Goods, Footwear (including Orthopaedics), Automotive, Construction, Adhesive Coating, and General Converting.

ALVEO offers its customers a wide range of services, a team of specialised development and technical engineers as well as dedicated sales managers; all supported by centrally located segment managers. Customers enjoy the benefit of centralised segment competence combined with local business competence.

Quality is the overriding issue in all of ALVEO's activities. The pursuance of a "Total Quality Management" philosophy has enabled us to adopt the internationally accepted standard ISO 9001 as the basis of the company-wide quality system. Commitment to the environment has enabled ALVEO to certify its Environmental Management System against ISO 14001. In addition, the Merthyr plant (ALVEO's production competence centre for the Automotive segment) was awarded the QS9000 certificate in 2001.
