Astron Clinica is a rapidly growing skin imaging company based in Cambridge UK with subsidiaries in Australia and the USA. The company has developed a unique skin imaging technology, called SIAscopy which enables images of haemoglobin, collagen, melanin and dermal melanin to be displayed as bit maps using a standard computer. SIAscopy enables doctors and aesthetic practitioners to visualise track and measure the health of skin tissue up to 2mm under the skin using either a hand held scanner (contact SIAscopy) which is used in contact with the skin or an off-the-shelf digital camera which generates non-contact SIAscopy images.

The company has three divisions:

• Skin Cancer – which develops and sells MoleView™ and MoleManager™, products that assist in the identification of malignant melanoma and track moles that may or may not have been scanned. MoleMate™ is a mole scanning product that has been especially designed for GPs and non skin cancer experts that scans and identifies moles as benign or suspicious so that patients are not unnecessarily referred to a hospital, in parallel delivering better patient care in the primary care sector.
• Aesthetics – the Aesthetics division is focussed on building products that image the faces of men and women in a consultation scenario, measuring blood, melanin, skin age and sun damage with a view to recommending non-invasive treatments that will affect the appearance and health of the skin. Our flagship aesthetics product, Beau Visage™ tracks and measures changes in facial skin over time helping aesthetic practitioners to sell treatments and associated products pushing up revenues and keeping clients loyal to the Spa.
• CosmaPharma – this division develops and sells products that are used by cosmetic formulators and developers of pharmaceutical products that affect the health of the skin. COSMETRICS™ enables cosmetic product formulators to mount a product trial measuring changes in blood, melanin and collagen over time analyzing that data and producing resultant statistics. This data is used by cosmetic companies to support marketing claims such as “anti-aging”.
