Top-level vehicle measurement

Autograph is the only worldwide provider of independent Package Data produced serially for the latest automobiles of various manufacturers. Our headquarters are located in Flensburg, Germany. We currently have representatives in Japan, Korea, and China. Our customers include almost all the major European and international automobile manufacturers. Using modern 3-D coordinate measuring systems, we are able to process approx. 40 series-production vehicles per year. Adhering to internationally valid standards (e.g. SAE J 1100) we record a comprehensive batch of data for each vehicle.

The results are provided as Package Data, which our customers mainly use to benchmark against their competition. Designers, research and development engineers, and construction experts use our data. In many sectors of the automotive industry, our data thus provides valuable information.

We have been involved in measuring the dimensions of automobiles for over 30 years. During this time, we have continually refined and adapted our methods to more and more complex requirements. As a general rule, our data is standardized, yet we still take our customers’ needs into consideration. Our extensive data archive now contains more than 1,000 vehicles. Our measurement data is in great demand among European and international customers, especially since it is collected independently.

From measuring point to CAD drawing

Our standard measuring program includes exterior, interior, and luggage capacity dimensions and various load-dependent measurements of a vehicle. We set several thousand measuring points and cross-sections for some 200 defined dimensions in each vehicle. As an extension to our product range, we also provide additional surface information and can conduct individual measurement programs.

For interior dimensions, we make use of our H-point machine, which matches the size and weight of an average driver. In this way, for example, we can measure the angle of body joints, the pressure exerted by the driver on the seat cushion, or the distance to the pedals. This provides us with accurate information on seating and space conditions. A laser measurement device makes it possible to measure the field of vision.

in the form of various products:

The 2-D and 3-D CAD drawings provide the most information; they are separated into different layers. The vehicle’s geometry, represented by splines and cross-sections, can be viewed from different perspectives Their IGES format allows for flexible use by the customer. In addition to the 3-D CAD drawings we can provide surface information for defined areas of the car in the form of STL data.

Further products are Datasheets in PDF format providing an overview of the most important dimensions and our Excel files from which the data can be easily exported, e.g. into customized databases for comparing the figures directly.

In addition, we also provide a package with photos from various standardized exterior or interior viewpoints and of the underbody.
