CPD, DEGREES AND POSTGRADUATE STUDY

The opportunities for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals to enhance and develop new skills in response to the rapidly changing health care arena has never been greater. In response to this Bell College in Lanarkshire and Dumfries and Galloway has unveiled an exciting range of health-related courses to meet the needs of health care professionals. The courses are significant developments within the School of Health at Bell and we are very excited about what we have to offer. We believe they will be very popular with individuals who are already working in health, social care and allied professions.

Among the courses being offered are a new part-time MSc in Health Studies ideally suited for nurses, midwives and related health professionals. Innovative modules included in this Master’s degree are Social Marketing and Public Health, Responding to Health Challenges and Inequalities and Understanding the Business of Health Care. An MSc in Nursing Studies in the areas of adult nursing, older adult and mental health is also available, as well as an MSc in Specialist Nursing Practice/Specialist Practitioner Qualification for qualified nurses working in areas such as Forensic, Palliative Care, Diabetes and Chronic Disease Management. The School also offers a BSc in Interprofessional Practice (Health and Allied Professions) suitable for those with a background in health and social care.

These new courses build on the College's successful ten years experience in delivering nursing and midwifery education for both Lanarkshire and Dumfries and Galloway on a full-time and part-time basis. These multi-professional health focused courses will bring substantial added value to what already exists within the School of Health Studies. The courses focus on responding to health challenges, developing scholarship and research skills, which will enable health professionals to challenge and influence current thinking and practice. Part-time students have access to the full range of Bell College facilities including library, computing labs, Student Advisory Service and support in study and exam skills.

We believe that the courses within the School of Health Studies at Bell College will assist health care professionals to develop new knowledge and skills that will be required to enhance their professional capabilities to deliver modern patient-focused services in the heart of the community.
