According to the Royal College of Physicians, there are around 18 million allergy sufferers in the UK and less than 100 Allergy Specialists to meet their needs! The NHS can neither fund the specialist centres required nor the costs of treating these patients with prescription drugs.

Speaking to allergy sufferers at the show, Mary Lloyd, the formulator of the products explained that the majority of allergy sufferers are Allergen Hypersensitive and not Atopic. Allergen hypersensitive patients respond positively to reductions in allergens in the environment and total eradication is neither necessary nor indeed desirable.

Allergy sufferers consistently have an overactive Type 2 immune system that releases white blood cells and histamines into the tissues causing wheezing, sneezing & irritation to the eyes, nose, throat and lungs Unlike the healthy patient, the Type 1 immune system which is responsible for de-activating and destroying these cells once they have fulfilled their function is under-active. The result, perennial rhinitis, conjunctivitis, asthma, eczema or hives.

The Type 1 immune response is a "learnt response" that normally develops when babies and young children are exposed to environmental challenges during their first 7 years of life. Super clean environments, reliance on immuno-suppressant drugs and antibiotics depress the development of this essential control.

Based on research carried out in Australia, the new AirCleanse™, HomeCleanse™ and FabriCleanse™ use negatively charged surfactants, Eucalyptus and Ylang ylang to encapsulate and neutralise allergens. The essential oils are also natural and safe acaricides.

HomeCleanse™ eliminates over 99% of the dust mite in household furnishings and mattresses and prevents re-infestation for a minimum of 4 weeks. Dust mites are the commonest cause of allergic reactions and are prevalent in beds, sofas, carpets and other upholstery and to a lesser extent clothing. Dust mites are also the commonest cause of eczema in dogs so it can benefit pets as well as humans.

Similarly, FabriCleanse™, the washing additive removes dust mite, pet and pollen in bedding and clothing. The solution can also be added to carpet cleaning solutions.

AirCleanse™ removes over 85% of airborne allergens more especially pollen and pet. The spray is used midday and early evening during the pollen season when pollen concentration is at its highest.
