Biohit rapidly became a reputable and well-established provider to Secondary Care when our flagship products were introduced to both NHS and Private Gastroenterology units. As a result we have generated much interest from Primary Care, including GPs and Pharmacies.

GastroView

GastroView is an excellent example of a simple, safe and highly accurate screening test that is offered to dyspeptic patients by Pharmacies. The test provides an accurate assessment of the health and function of the gastric mucosa in addition to ruling out Helicobacter pylori infection.

GastroView involves the collection of a finger prick blood sample by pharmacy personnel which is sent to the Biohit Laboratory for analysis. Analysis involves individual serological measurements of H. pylori IgA/IgG antibodies, Pepsinogen I and Pepsinogen II – three highly specific biomarkers of gastric function.

GastroView can therefore accurately determine such conditions as Atrophic Gastritis, and provides a risk assessment for the patient which includes considerations for further testing of e.g. Vitamin B12, Homocysteine, and Iron status, or referral for Gastroscopy. GastroView is recommended as the first line screening test in the absence of alarm symptoms, prior to empirical prescribing of PPIs.
