Our mission is clear but yet challenging: To increase each individual’s capability to make decision. This is the bottom line for all purpose of education and training.
Our approach is also quite clear. We use a common software platform which is modular, scaleable and flexible. Distributed simulation is the key to make it all work. Our pedigree for simulator training is well over 15 years. With over 60 installations and more than 1000 delivered computers we are proud to say that we know how to make it work.
C-ITS originates from the Swedish company Comator founded in 1973, which at that time specialised in process simulation for heavy industry. Our first efforts for the military started in 1984 delivering a data collection system for analysis and de-briefing. The first military simulator was an Artillery Fire Control simulator delivered in 1988 setting the standard for the new era with computer based training systems. Since the mid 90's the development of the common simulation platform CATS has been a success and today supports more than 10 different simulation applications in operation.
In 1993 the company DSU was formed with the main purpose of delivering an education solution based on e-learning for the Swedish Army combat vehicle CV9040. This training course was finally one of the largest e-learning production performed with over 700 lecture hours developed. This company was merged into C-ITS in 1999 completing our portfolio for education and training.
Since 2002 C-ITS is a part of the Bofors Defence group, which is a part of the American United Defense group active world-wide.
Over the years, C-ITS has gained multiple experience working with distributed education and training solutions for the domains of live, virtual and constructive simulations. The following are the main characteristics of our activities in those areas:
The live training is the basis for all unit training. All training in this domain is performed in field conditions with tactical equipment. In essence, it involves real people operating real systems. C-ITS have delivered full Combat Training Centres and are specialised in the exercise control and monitoring of the training centres. The CATS CTC EXCON includes full functionality for preparation, control, monitoring with a sophisticated After Action Review capability.
The virtual training involves real people operating simulated systems. The Virtual domain is usually associated with different types of skill trainers such as Forward observer training and Artillery Fire Control simulation.
The constructive simulation involves simulated people using simulated systems, all simulated by real people. The constructive domain is usually associated with different types of command and staff training. C-ITS is widely known for its CATS TYR game engine used for simulation of Peace Support Operations and Operations Other Than War (OOTW).
Vertical and horizontal integration of all three domains is the cornerstone for future training systems. The ability for seamless, distributed exercises is essential for the modern training of today’s and tomorrow's joint forces.
Combining those in a proper way is our key to future success.
