CDL, - a Sri Lankan ISO 9001 certified Shipbuilder, with Japanese collaboration offers a range of aluminium hull fast boats of proven designs for varying duties. Continuous upgrading of CDL’s facilities, have enabled CDL to offer faster delivery times, and the relative low cost labour gives CDL, the edge over other competing international yards.
CDL specialises in the aluminium boat building technology having developed over the past decade, for local military applications and now have adapted the technology gained, for lucrative commercial use by offering commercial vessels such as aluminium hull Fast Crew Boats, Aluminium hull Passenger Vessels etc.. to various new markets.
Currently CDL is nearing completion of construction of 10 Nos. aluminium hull Ultra Fast Attack Craft for the Sri Lanka Navy and have begun construction of 1 No. 35 m Fisheries Protection Craft and 1 No. 40 m Fisheries Protection Vessel for the Maldives Coast Guard of the Republic of Maldives.

These ultra fast, fully customised, aluminium hull patrol/ attack craft, are battle tested and proven in one of the deadliest terrorist encounters in the recent times. During the last 13 years CDL has manufactured over 48 such craft for the local/regional Navies & Coast Guards at extremely competitive prices, at very short delivery terms, surpassing other international suppliers.
UFACs are specially designed for naval/coast guard duties, including,
Speeds varying from 45 knots to 53 knots, UFACs are designed to have endurances ranging from 500 to 600 nm & carry out missions in sea states upto 5, in all weather conditions.
All UFACs are designed and built to LR+100 A1, Mono, Patrol, G2, LMC.
UFAC I, a 24 m, mono hull craft powered by twin MTU Main Engines each developing 1630 kW driving KAMEWA water jets, reaches 45 Knots and has an endurance of 500 Nm. The Craft is provided with accommodation facilities for 10 men. Vibration free deck enables mounting of a range of sophisticated weaponry outfits, meeting specific needs and operations.
UFAC II, was designed as the successor to the previous design. The accommodation area was increased to accommodate 12 persons. Significant improvements were made on the Superstructure, fully customising it to combat requirements, whilst maintaining operational characteristics.
UFAC III and UFAC IV, the latest additions, incorporates latest combat requirements and experiences in the battlefield and achieves speeds in excess of 53 knots with a complement of 12 persons. Powered by twin DEUTZ Main Engines each developing 1935 kW driving MJP water jets, ensures optimum handiness while operating in restricted and shallow waters, whilst maintaining excellent sea keeping characteristics.
The design is fully customised to have greater redundancies on critical systems and complete remote operation is provided from the Wheel House and Flying Bridge. The fully integrated, computerised control systems provide simplest and smoothest operation, making the vessel highly user friendly. In the unlikely event of a battle damage, vessel is equipped with a come-home facility and Emergency Towing Arrangement.
Outfitted with a 23 mm Typhoon Naval Stabilized Gun and a electro optical Fire Control System, UFAC III & UFAC IV has superior fire power making it a unique platform to launch multitude of operations in broader and complex roles and missions in conjunction with other air and land forces.

Coastal Surveillance Vessel at 40 Knots |
24 m CSVs, were built for Maldivian Coast Guard, to carry out patrol missions in the coastal waters of the Republic of Maldives. As the island nations general mode of transportation is by sea, the CSV’s in addition to its role in surveillance, is also suitably furnished for high speed transfer of VIP’s. Powered by twin PAXMAN Main Engines each developing 1564 kW and driving KAMEWA water jets, CSV is capable of achieving a maximum speed of 40 Knots.

This 16 m Fire Fighting Vessel is capable of attending to fire incidents with both water and foam, onboard ocean going vessels and in islands within the Republic of Maldives. The Vessel is fitted out with two powerful fire pumps in the forward and aft. Due to the vessel’s capability to reach high speeds in excess of 40 knots, it is capable of reaching the destination within a short time and attend to its intended task. In addition to its Fire Fighting duties it is also engaged as a Patrol Vessel. The Vessel is powered by twin MAN Main Engines each developing 588 kW and driving KAMEWA FF water jets. The hull is ideally suited to perform Naval and Custom duties.

This is a unique design, with the Landing Craft being able to achieve speeds in excess of 20 Knots. The 21 m Fast Landing Craft was designed to transport armoured vehicles and troops with a deck load of 5 tonnes. This Craft is capable of being used for military operations and also to attend to rescue operations at times of disaster. The Craft is powered by twin MAN Main Engines each developing 588 kW and driving HAMILTON water jets.

These two boats were built to design of Robert Allan Limited, a world renowned designing firm from Canada. With a deck cargo of 15 tons the boat is able to achieve a speed of 20 Knots. The boat is intended to transport Crew and Goods from shore to offshore installations. This series of boats are powered by twin CUMMINS KTA 50 M 2 Main Engines each developing 1345 kW and driving two conventional fixed pitch propellers.
32 ‘airline style’ seating arrangements for the comfort of the traveling Crew and ergonomically designed living quarters for 7 Boat Crew with Mess, Galley and Toilets has been provided.
With a fuel capacity of 20 Tonnes and a fresh water capacity of 10 Tonnes, the Crew Boat has an endurance of in excess of 700 nm and her crew is capable of operating at sea for extended periods.
The Boat is highly maneuverable while working close to offshore installations and within harbour premises. In order to provide for Owners operating practices and requirements, the wheelhouse is installed with an additional Aft Control Station to ease maneuvering operations.
The Crew Boat including all its material, machinery, equipment, piping, workmanship etc.. are built in accordance with the requirements of the Classification Society (American Bureau of Shipping) and also meeting Cypriot flag state requirements.
These Two sister vessels are now in operation with the Lamnalco Ltd of Cyprus in the Port of Harcourt Nigeria.

The boat is intended to transport Crew and Goods from shore to offshore installations. This series of boats are powered by twin CATERPILLAR 3512 B Main Engines each developing 1425 kW and driving two conventional fixed pitch propellers.
The Crew Boat 33.5 metre in length is of all aluminium construction and is fitted out with two CATERPILLAR Main Engines driving two Conventional Fixed Pitch Propellers, achieving speeds in excess of 18 knots.
