Chauntry was founded in 1991, and has grown profitably ever since. The company was created by Theresa Hughes and Ray Vaughan, who executed a management buy-out of the travel reservations business of GPT-Plessey. Ray and Theresa who are, respectively, Technical Director and Managing Director, have run and grown the business ever since.
Chauntry’s success was founded on reservation systems for travel and tour operators. The company developed highly successful products for travel management, and won and retained the business of leading tour and travel operators, both in the UK and internationally.
Chauntry became involved in the parking industry through one of its earliest customers – The Apple Booking Company, now known to us all as Holidayextras. Wishing to capitalise on the growth in demand for car park reservations, Holidayextras asked Chauntry for to provide a product to manage sales and operations for airport parking. Chauntry responded with its flagship Parkspace product, and Parkspace has been powering the airport parking industry ever since.
Parkspace is the foundation of Chauntry’s parking business. Unlike bespoke reservation systems or re-tasked shopping baskets, Parkspace is designed for parking, and supports the whole parking transaction. Parkspace systems can take the booking online or on the phone, insert the booking into the car park, interact with barrier equipment and ANPR cameras, recognise customers and check them in, allocate cars to spaces or rows, record car movements, manage SMS customer alerting, monitor flight arrivals to warn car park staff customers are returning, control chauffeur logistics, recognise returning customers by bar coded tickets, calculate overstay payments, handle checkout processing and interact with e-marketing systems, ERP systems, Yield Management systems travel agents and parking consolidators. It’s all a matter of focus. Focus drives functionality, and Chauntry’s focus is parking.
Chauntry systems now process millions of bookings each year. They are used by the world’s leading airport and parking operators, including the BAA, NCP and Holidayextras.
