Chelton Defence Communications Ltd (CDC) produces modular fully digital Tactical Communications and Control Systems to meet the most stringent Operational Requirements of users. The systems available from CDC are suitable for a variety of platforms ranging from light vehicles and boats through heavy armour to Command Posts.
In today’s modern armed forces Command and Control Systems are an integral part of any modern military platform and are used to provide two vital functions:
CDC provide modular, rugged lightweight products to Customers throughout the world and have, to date, supplied over 25,000 systems and continue to supply at a rate of over 4,000 systems per annum.
The continuing design and development ensures that we meet both operational, and very importantly, crew requirements while maintaining compatibility with the Platform, Environment and the increased C4I demands of the modern battlefield.
The modular approach to the design philosophy is extended through all processes to the sub-assembly implementations and the concurrent logistic support requirements. This allows technological insertion without the need for complete system replacement. The ability for Technological Insertion is seen as the most significant aspect of producing system sustainability with low Life Cycle Costs and a long In-Service-Life.
The modular design of CDC’s Systems provides the following advantages:
Key Functions of Chelton Defence Communications Systems:
The mainstay of the Chelton product range is the proven AN/VIC-3 (ROVIS)
system. This has been fielded in over 13 countries. The system provides an
exceptional level of reliability and functionality in a very compact rugged
package allowing simple replacement of legacy analogue systems.
The Light Vehicle Variant (LV2) is a smaller light weight system that is
typically used in small platforms such as HMMWV's or RIB's. With over 4,000
systems deployed in the last two years, this system is favoured by many military
users in lightly armoured vehicles and for use by SF units.
Chelton offer a Wireless Integrated Communications Systems (CWICS) which can be added to any of the systems. The CWICS integrates the leading Personal Infantry Radios into the vehicle Command and Control System, allowing dismounted Troops or Crew access to the vehicle communications systems.
Chelton’s G2 variant will provide a cost effective IP capability for users with increased capability and functionality. All G2 user access units are backward compatible with current systems (AN/VIC-3 and LV2).
