COMINVEST Asset Management GmbH^* is a 100% owned subsidiary of Commerzbank AG, one of Germany’s leading banks, comprising the institutional and retail investment management, domestic and international. COMINVEST Institutional is headquartered in Frankfurt but is supported by Commerzbank affiliated companies in London (Jupiter), Paris (CCR) and Madrid (AFINA).

COMINVEST Institutional focuses on the management of institutional assets, above all in the form of Spezialfonds, discretionary portfolios and mutual funds for institutional investors. We also offer investors services in the form of advisory portfolios and insourcing as well as our Master-KAG concept.

COMINVEST manages currently total assets of roughly EUR49bn (about EUR27bn of which in the institutional segment). COMINVEST is therefore one of the leading institutions in the German market.

COMINVEST Institutional's business strategy is to expand in Europe, building on its already strong market position in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and moving into new markets like Italy, Benelux and Nordic countries. The entry in the new markets is achieved by introducing innovative products and services.

Strengths

COMINVEST Institutional has a long standing experience in servicing multinational corporations, pension funds, insurances, foundations, banks and governmental entities, including central banks or comparable institutions managing national currency reserves. It has a strong client-service concept highlighted by a client-oriented organizational structure. Our approach to relationship management is team-based, led by a relationship manager who is a business professional empowered to meet client needs as those needs evolve. The relationship manager's team includes experts from various groups: portfolio management, marketing, legal, compliance, investment operations, and information technology. We offer highly customized reportings including performance and risk analysis based on state of the art tools.

Services

COMINVEST Institutional is a full service provider in asset management, which also includes advising clients on their strategic asset allocation. This is a key element in order to achieve the clients’ investment objectives. Keeping in mind the return requirements on the one hand and the risk tolerance on the other, COMINVEST Institutional offers advice to find the most appropriate asset mix that best matches the given long term constraints.

Besides our traditional range of investment vehicles we offer setting up European off-shore domiciled fund structures in Luxembourg and Ireland (Dublin) which enables our clients utmost flexibility in structuring their investments.

Investment process

COMINVEST Institutional and its affiliated companies provide tailor-made investment solutions for European clients. Our investment solution consists of a gamut of strategies from core to alternative. Consistency and premium quality within the different investment strategies achieved by using multiple platforms, which are separated from each other.

Our platform in Frankfurt (COMINVEST Institutional) combines quantitative approaches with qualitative analyses, with both a top-down and a bottom-up orientation, ensures that all the relevant market factors are included in the assessment. By means of a strict, risk-controlled implementation of research, COMINVEST has made its goal the achievement of stable returns, which exceed the targets of its clients. We put a strong emphasis on risk control at a business level and at all stages of the investment process.

The value investment style of our platform in Paris (CCR Actions) is based on a bottom-up approach designed to calculate the industrial value of an undervalued share and determine the likelihood of catalysts that would lift the share prices to this level: ownership issues or events that enhance the value of a company's assets.

Our London-based active investment management platform (Jupiter) handles high-performance mandates for a wide range of institutional clients. Their approach is based on a flexible style, focusing on the flair of individual managers working within a team framework. The approach is not benchmark- or committee-driven, and adds value through a judgemental philosophy.
