C.S.D., Inc. has been producing automated test systems for tier-1 automotive parts suppliers since 1998. These systems have ranged from validation lab equipment to factory automation, with a focus on automotive electronics, including switches, RKE transmitters and receivers, Body Control Modules, and Clock Springs. In addition to full test systems, we produce a line of stand-alone interfaces which enable communications using CAN, BEAN, LIN, J1850, and ISO9141.
Our experience covers test systems for a wide range of automotive electronic devices. We have produced machines for testing mirror switches, door lock switches, key cylinder switches, and various push-button switches, among others. These applications have required various degrees of motion control, along with simulated high and low current loads. Our systems can even provide a load profile which simulates lamp and motor loads with predetermined inductive kick. One of our specialties has been contact bounce measurement, meeting the stringent Ford specifications since 1998.
Some of the electronic modules we have worked with include body control modules, memory mirror modules, memory seat modules, and steering angle sensors. This has required low and high speed communication capabilities including LIN, BEAN, CAN, J1850, and ISO9141, as well as custom communication protocols as required by our customers.
In the area of radio frequency devices, we have produced systems for testing RKE transmitters and receivers, including measurements for signal strength and center frequency. We have experience with all of the common methods, including FSK and ASK modulation, Manchester and Shark encoding, and security such as rolling code and encryption.
We have also produced systems for testing passive components, such as the clock spring mechanisms used for supplying signals to the steering wheel of a vehicle.
One of our premier products is our line of Force Vs. Travel Measurement Systems. These systems measure the force or torque required to activate switches as required by most automotive specifications. Our systems can support either linear push/pull applications, or rotary for knobs, rockers, thumb-wheels, key cylinders, etc. They can range from simple single-axis measurement tools to full featured multi-axis robots. These systems are an excellent tool for any validation lab. For high volume testing, we have produced systems ranging from single-axis end-of-line testers, to multi-station machines which include a combination of all of the above applications. As with most of our systems, the software uses scripting to encourage maximum flexibility, while providing excellent return on investment.
Over the years, C.S.D., Inc. has produced many functional test systems for automotive electronic devices. Our systems are built using common components so that a tester can be reused for many different applications. The software used in these systems includes a built-in scripting interface which permits new types of parts to be tested easily and quickly. These testers have been deployed in validation labs and for end-of-line function testing.
In addition to functional test systems, C.S.D., Inc. also produces single and multi-station durability test machines. These systems perform repetitive mechanical cycling; again following a script that the end-user can modify to meet new needs.
For applications where portability is a concern, C.S.D., Inc. has produced self-contained mobile testers. These systems have ranged from passive systems with indicators to active systems which perform complex diagnostic functions.
