Founded in 1985 and originally based in Kent, Design Environmental is well established in the UK and is also a growing international force as a leading designer and manufacturer of environmental and climatic test chambers with many blue chip customers in the aerospace, automotive and electronics sectors.
Design Environmental was purchased by the German Schunk group in 1998 that also owns the Weiss and Votsch companies and thereby became part of the largest group of environmental test equipment manufacturers in Europe bringing additional financial security and engineering knowledge to the company.

In 2007 the company expanded into an adjoining factory unit and doubled the available production space to accommodate increased turnover and the manufacture of large walk in test rooms and also to provide additional production space for a long term contract.
We have a full design and manufacture capability at our South Wales factory and we operate under an ISO 9001:2000 quality management system and also provide calibration of temperature and humidity traceable to UKAS.
Design Environmental specialise in the service, manufacture and design of temperature and humidity test chambers. We manufacture a comprehensive range of standard chambers to accommodate a wide variety of testing requirements but 80% of our production is affordable customised designs which can include high performance in the form of rapid temperature cycling and special sizes.

The standard range of temperature test chambers spreads from bench top models to floor standing and then onward to larger customised floor standing, walk in or drive in rooms.
Temperature ranges are from -100°C to +200°C depending on the model. Temperature rates of change of up 20°C/min are available for compressor cooled units and 60°C/min or more is available for liquid Nitrogen cooled versions.
Standard models of environmental test or climatic test chambers include bench top and floor standing ranges and like the temperature testing chambers go on to large customised walk in or drive in rooms.
Walk in or drive in rooms can be designed for customised applications for either programmable cycling of temperature and humidity or as steady state for storage applications. They can also be supplied to provide hypoxic environments whereby the Oxygen content is controlled to simulate altitude for human performance studies and acclimatisation applications.

Our Sigma range of HALT HASS chambers provide temperature cycling up to 80°C/min as standard and also combine a patented simultaneous six degree of freedom random vibration table providing 50grms of broadband random vibration from 20Hz to 10,00Hz with an unrivalled, excellent close ratio of vibration energy in the X, Y and Z axes.
We have two standard sizes of Drystor cabinet to provide low humidity storage for SMD’s or any moisture sensitive component and meet the requirements of IPC/JEDC J-STD-033. Low humidity conditions can be generated either by desiccant air drier or by Nitrogen gas purge for long term storage in an inert atmosphere. Heating can also be supplied as an option.
Our team of service engineers provide preventative maintenance, breakdown or calibration services traceable to UKAS for our own or any manufacture of temperature test chamber or environmental test chamber.
