Enhances the quality of life of all South Africans by boosting economic growth through the development and implementation of Hydrocarbons, Electricity and Nuclear and Renewable Energy policies.

MINE HEALTH AND SAFETY

The Inspectorate is committed to the promotion and protection of the health and safety of all persons working in the mines through the enforcement of the Mine Health and Safety Act; as well as to the maintenance of locally acceptable and internationally competitive standards.

MINERAL DEVELOPMENT

Process prospecting and mining applications and regulates environmental management in the mining industry. Promotes mineral and mining development by investment promotion strategies, which will eliminate prevailing socio-economic barriers.

SOUTHERN AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY

The Department successfully co-ordinates participation of South African Minerals and Energy stakeholders in the SADC Mining and Energy sectors.
