After more than 15 years developing and building offshore wind farms, we are amongst the leading in offshore wind power generation. We have extensive experience in the design and engineering as well as the operation of wind farms at sea. Five of the ten largest existing offshore wind farms in the world have been built by DONG Energy.

New wind farms make a difference

DONG Energy’s investments in large-scale offshore wind farms help increase the availability of renewable energy. Our goal is to triple the company’s renewable production capacity by 2020. We are building three large offshore wind farms in Great Britain - two wind farms at Gunfleet Sands and one at Walney Island. And a new offshore wind farm is on its way in the North Sea as well.

Largest offshore wind farm in the world

In the North Sea, DONG Energy has begun constructing Horns Rev 2 which will become the world’s largest offshore wind farm with a capacity of 209MW. The electricity produced at Horns Rev 2 is expected to cover the annual consumption of approx 200,000 households. The offshore wind farm is scheduled for completion by the end of 2009.

As we are active in every link, DONG Energy has in-depth experience and knowledge within the entire chain of energy. The chain includes offshore production of oil and natural gas from the North Sea, wind farms at sea and ashore, combined heat and power plants, as well as sale and distribution activities.

• For more than twenty years DONG Energy has been an active player within exploration and production of oil and natural gas. At present we have gas and oil exploration licenses throughout Denmark, Norway, UK, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland.
• DONG Energy is a large power generator and producer of district heating in Denmark.
• Every day we provide energy to more than a million customers. And all our customers depend on a reliable energy supply 24 hours a day.
