The Droitwich Knee Clinic was established in 1988 as a specialist centre for the diagnosis and treatment of knee disorders under the directorship of Mr. Angus Strover FRCS. In 1997 the demand for these services required the addition of the London Knee Clinic.
Beside the treatment the Clinics provide, we use a network of physiotherapists, sports therapists, sports physicians and general practitioners who regularly refer their patients for diagnosis and treatment and who co-operate with us in the post operative treatment of their patients. On-site special investigations used in diagnosis include MRI scanning, X-ray and ultrasound imaging, electrocardiograms, isokinetic testing and comprehensive laboratory back-up. This gives the patient a unique "one stop" diagnosis thus avoiding the need for recurrent consultations before a final diagnosis is made.
Patients undergoing minimally invasive surgery are accommodated either as day surgery cases, or an overnight stay in hospital, depending on the needs of the patient. Those who are undergoing total knee replacements are discharged from hospital within 7 and 10 days of their operations. Many of our patients come from the Channel Islands, Europe, the Middle East, the North of England, Scotland, Wales and Cornwall. There are no boundaries to our areas of referral. In all cases an accurate estimation of total costs of the operation, including the hospital costs, the anaesthetist’s and surgeon’s fees and an estimate of the costs of rehabilitation and follow-up appointments will be given on request by our accounts department. Our particular areas of surgical expertise are the following:
The Droitwich Knee Clinic is recognised as an international teaching centre by ISAKOS (the International Society for Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine). As a group of experts in our chosen field, we believe that we can offer a unique service to the professional or amateur sportsman, the athlete with a knee injury and the middle aged or older person with degenerative conditions of the knee.
