Electrovac AG is a privately owned company, established in 1947, with headquarters and production facilities in Austria and production plants in Germany, Poland and China, employing 1200 people worldwide. Focused on technologies of material composites (metals, glass, ceramics and graphite) to for use in extreme thermal and environmental conditions and to reduce waste of energy. The components manufactured of these materials are used for protecting high power electronics in household appliances, industrial, automotive or aerospace applications.
The Electrovac Group is structured in three segments:
Electrovac-Curamik is a major supplier of Direct Bonded Copper (DBC) substrates, a carrier created by direct bonding of copper foils with insulating alumina ceramics; metal-matrix composites for control of thermal expansion matching and water cooling systems for high-performance computers and lasers. Application areas of ceramic printed circuit boards include the energy management of hybrid vehicles, trains and power stations. Production plants are located in Germany and Austria.
Hermetically sealed packages are produced in Germany Austria. This technology provides reliable protection from humidity, aggressive atmospheres, pressure and vacuum. Among others, areas of application include automotive industry (gear control systems, airbag initiators, and sensors), sensors, batteries and aerospace ( microwave).
Electrovac Heat Control division produces thermal switches and controls in Poland and oxygen/humidity sensors in Austria. These products are used in household appliances for protection and energy management .
Electrovac Nanofibers was established for developing and producing nanotechnological applications of graphitic carbons. Among others, the physical properties of graphite is utilized to improve the properties of compound materials, such as in thermoplastic compounds or epoxy resins filled with carbon nanofibers. Due to the wide range of possible applications of CNF, these products are of interest for various sectors, such as automotive industry, sports equipment industry and aviation industry.
Carbon nanofibers are produced a CCVD (Catalytic Chemical Vapor Deposition) process. This is optimized for cost-efficient production of industry-scale volumes for our customers.
Electrovac is Austria’s sole producer of carbon nanofibers (CNF) and holds relevant patents for the production and application of nanofibers and related processes (tubular graphites with a diameter of a few nanometers: 1nm = one millionth of a millimetre).
