The Energy Foundation of Schleswig-Holstein

The Energy Foundation was founded in 1993 by the German Federal State of Schleswig-Holstein and the energy industry as expression of an institutionalised consensus on the energy issue. It is a public-law foundation with legal capacity and accomplishes its goals using the income accruing from its capital assets. The aim of the Foundation is research, development of activities and dissemination of knowledge in the field of climate protection and reduction of CO2 emissions with special reference to energy efficiency and renewable energies.

The Energy Foundation aims to foster climate protection efforts in Schleswig-Holstein and the Baltic Sea Region especially in times of deregulation of energy markets. It considers itself an operative body that does not merely specify general focal points of support, but also develops projects itself, thus retaining an independent stance compared to other project application situations. When financing particular projects the Foundation places special emphasis on funds being used efficiently and effectively to improve protection of our climate.

Currently the Foundation performs the following different tasks with reference to renewable energy:

The Energy Foundation is interested in contacts with persons and institutions with experiences and ideas with reference to renewable energy eventually to be promoted and disseminated in Schleswig-Holstein and the Baltic Sea Region.
