Energizer Hard Case Tactical 2AA Flashlight

The Energizer Hard Case Tactical 2AA Flashlight (Type number MIL2AA1L) is designed to meet military needs and specifications. It features rugged construction and multiple light modes to provide the functionality necessary for military and other tactical operators in the field of duty.

Body

The flashlight’s body shape is a modified cylinder and with corners along its length squared off to improve ergonomics, grip and to prevent rolling. The body is made from tough ABS waffle construction plastic for strength and light weight. It is also strengthened with stainless steel side plates, anodised to prevent light reflection, and the flashlight is covered with rubber overmoulds at strategic locations to improve grip, absorb abuse and provide drop protection. The product is designed to survive a 20 foot drop.

The flashlight weighs 8 oz (including 2AA lithium batteries) and is 7.5 inches long by 1.75 inches at its widest point. A special clip is provided for attaching to PALs/MOLLE system, WebGear, etc, which prevents light falling off accidentally. The lanyard hook is built into the body for strength and stability.

Swivel action head

The flashlight head swivels and holds angles anywhere between 85 and 210 degrees to the line of its body, meeting the following four primary applications:

• Completely closed (85°): designed for projection of light on a table when in standing position, or shining hands-free light when mounted to MOLLE system (PALs)
• Right angle (90°): straight on light, providing more natural angle for signalling and providing “leader light”, (when travelling in a group at night, light can be mounted on the back
• of a truck or a soldier for following vehicles/troops)
• Straight (180°): traditional handheld use, or use in tactical situation, i.e. pistol-over-light grip
• Completely extended: for hanging the light so that it will project the light beam straight down, even though the body’s hanging angle is not 90° to the ground.

The swivel head can be locked at 45, 90 and 180 degrees and the hood is designed to ensure that no peripheral light is exposed. The scratch-resistant polycarbonite lens is accompanied by optics/reflector designed to project tight, long range beam on white mode for distance and for temporarily disabling scotopic vision of enemy combatant. It is also designed for up-close work/reading in red, blue and IR modes.

Light sources and output options

Energizer partners with the leaders in LED technology, Cree and Lumileds (makers of Luxeon) to provide the most advanced high intensity LEDs available. While the standard version of the Hard Case Tactical Light will meet a white light value of 60 lumens at no less than 60 minutes run time, output can be customised to meet the application needs of the military customers. Standard light outputs are:

• White: high-intensity white LED, at least 60 lumens, for distance illumination and tactical use
• Red: LED, low intensity (6-8 lumens) for light discipline and scotopic vision preservation
• Blue: LED, low intensity (6-8 lumens), for light discipline and scotopic vision preservation
• Infrared: LED, wavelength 880 nanometers, for use with Night Optics Devices
• Flashing Infrared for Identify Friend or Foe (IFF) and beacon applications (flash rate 120X / minute).

Switches

Switches (not including the IR dial) feature:

• Quiet operation for stealth use
• Momentary action, meaning the flash light can be used to signal with, or by depressing switch fully, produce steady illumination.
• All lights are capable of being locked out by disengaging the lock, turning the IR dial 15° towards the back and re-engaging the lock.

The white LED switch is in the tail and shrouded to avoid incidental discharge and can be operated as a tactical device. The IR LED dial has an indicator so that the user can see it, even when not wearing night optics. The IR LED can be placed into flashing/beacon mode by switching the IR dial to on and pressing the white LED button in the tail.

All switches and the IR dial are capable of being operated while wearing gloves.
