Entuity - The Business Approach to Network Management

Entuity is a technology pioneer in developing network fault, inventory and performance management software, specializing in the proactive real-time intelligent network management.

The current flagship product - Eye of the Storm® - is an 'out of the box' business oriented network management product. It is the first intra-LAN software solution for proactively assessing and controlling network degradation, and identifying and categorizing problems by severity. The company was founded in 1997 by two ex-Goldman Sachs network management specialists. Offices are located in Boston, London and New York.

Corporate Background

Networks are evolving rapidly in size and complexity, fueled by the adoption of switched technology, convergence and an e-commerce boom. For enterprises, carriers, service providers and more, network reliability has become vital to success, with sub-standard performance costing millions in lost revenue and opportunity daily. Yet network growth has outpaced the capabilities of traditional platform-based management tools, a situation worsened by an increasing lack of IT professionals. The result is a dire need for new network and systems management solutions, creating a technology market Bear Stearns estimates will increase at a compounded annual rate of 73 percent. Gartner Group projects it will jump to $18.2 billion in 2002.

Entuity, Inc. -- founded as Prosum, Inc., in 1997 by network-management specialists Dr. Robert Haines and Jeremy Tracey, both gurus out of Goldman Sachs -- has created an unique answer to this dilemma with Eye of the Storm®.

The brainchild of men well-versed in some of the most stressed environments in industry, Eye of the Storm® (currently in version 2.0) is the first intra-LAN software solution to proactively assess and control network degradation. The "out-of-the-box" solution drills down to the complex details of the LAN switch environment, providing immediate inventory to the port level, early detection of performance degradation, and event/issue correlation and prioritization for acute business-impact management. For IT staffs, this translates into an unrivaled ability to manage a network, avoid costly failures and reap the most from investments and personnel, while ensuring the high quality of network performance required for e-business ventures.

Already, many of the world's largest financial institutions rely on Eye of the Storm®, a pattern duplicated in network-centric industries all around the globe. This acceptance prompted the UK-headquartered Entuity to pursue expansion into the United States in May 2000. It also elicited a second round of funding -- totaling $12 million -- from Spectrum Equity and a consortium including Amadeus Capital Partners and Westpool. These funds are driving Entuity's push into the lucrative United States marketplace, a move further supported by recently established offices in New York and Boston, expansion of its board of directors, and impending West Coast plans.
