Evertz Hydrotechnik is an independent subsidiary of the globally active company Egon Evertz KG in Solingen, Germany, that has around 750 staff members including those in its European operations.

In the field of hot and cold rolling mills, the multi-zone cooling system (see www.evertz-group.com (Evertz Hydrotechnik)) is employed in the production of steel, aluminium and non-ferrous metal sheets and plates. For this purpose 2/2 directional spray valves of pitch 17, 26 or 52mm are arranged over the entire width of the roll to apply cooling media in a well-aimed manner to certain roll zones so that the sheet thickness can be controlled within a close tolerance range.

This process necessitates quick-acting and reliable spray valves as developed, manufactured and sold by Evertz Hydrotechnik to satisfy the individual needs of the customers.

Spray valves from Evertz Hydrotechnik are supplied in sizes DN5, DN8, DN12 and DN16. The maximum flow is 120L/min. All design variants are manufactured with a view to providing optimum flow configurations for lowest possible pressure losses. Evertz Hydrotechnik always strives to supply to the individual customer valve solutions that meet the given requirements perfectly. This is how special valves for almost any application in the field of roll cooling could be created throughout many years of close co-operation with our customers.

Basically, the valves are made of stainless steel. By making use of best sealing materials for any given application need the valves can be employed for almost any spray media, even aggressive and/or hot fluids up to a temperature of 95°C (hot edge). The angles of the spray nozzles are adjustable and pre-set to customer’s requirement.

Spray bars made by Evertz Hydrotechnik are designed to exactly meet the needs of our customers. This means bar designs are tailored in the best way possible to the respective location, available space as well as spray media. To suit the relevant application Standard Profiles or Solid Bars are provided that are made of carbon or stainless steel as necessitated by the spray medium.

The spray valves are controlled by 3/2 directional solenoid valves which are usually located external to the roll stand but if so desired by the customer may also be mounted directly at the spray bar within the roll stand. The valves can be piloted by means of system-own or external media.

When actuated with compressed air and with the pilot valves arranged outside the roll stand the valves are mounted in suitable control cabinets. The control signals to the cabinet are transmitted by the main computer. The interface is usually a standardised professional bus system. The control air is fed to the spray bar in the roll stand via Multiple Control Lines run in Protective Stainless Steel Hoses. If so desired by the customer the multiple control lines can supplied with or without multi-couplings.
