From the earliest days of reactor development, Flowserve has remained at the forefront of the commercial nuclear power industry by providing the highest quality pumps, valves, seals and industry expertise. Today, 80 percent of the power plants in the world use Flowserve products for their critical operations.

Flowserve has been the leading supplier of pumps for the most critical applications in the nuclear industry, including ASME Code Class 1, 2 and 3 pumps and mechanical seals. In 2007, Flowserve was selected to provide concrete volute pumps for the first phase of two Chinese nuclear power plant projects and was selected to supply pumps for 11 critical services for the Flamanville plant in France.

Flowserve offers full valve services for the nuclear industry, with ASME Section III N and NPT stamp production capability, NR stamp repair capability, RCC-M production capability and the full support of our engineering, field service, quality assurance and production staff.

Flowserve Firsts in the Nuclear Industry

•  Provided the first ‘canned’ pump prototypes for modern nuclear power plants in 1948.
•  In 1953, supplied reactor recirculation pumps and critical valves for the USS Nautilus, America’s first nuclear submarine.
•  Supplied liquid metal pumps in 1957 to the first non-military nuclear power plant in Moorpark, California.
•  Supplied valves to the Shippingport Atomic Power Station in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, the world's first full-scale atomic electric power plant devoted exclusively to peacetime uses.
•  Provider of main steam isolation valves (MSIV) since the beginning of nuclear power generation.
•  Provided the first shaft-sealed primary coolant pump for commercial reactors in 1961, facilitating the increase in plant size from prototypes to over 1000 MW units.
•  Shipped the industry’s first “N” stamp valve.
•  First company to receive ASME QME-1 qualification in 2003.
•  Supplied Main Steam Isolation and Main Feedwater Isolation valves for Olkiluoto 3, the world’s first Generation 3+ reactor (Areva EPR) under construction.
