L'Affaire Francaise are French Estate Agents registered in France and holder of a Professional licence (Carte Professionelle). Our principal offices are situated at Jarnac in the Charente with satellite offices at Chalus in the Haute Vienne and Verteillac in Dordogne. Therefore we cover a large part of South West France where we offer a large range of properties available for purchase.

L'Affaire Francaise has experience since 1989 in providing a professional and sympathetic service to purchasers of property in France. We assist clients in all aspects of purchasing a property whether for residential or commercial use, and ensure that from the time of welcoming you to completion of your property and beyond, the whole process is conducted with friendly assistance and professional competence.

L'Affaire Francaise is able and available to provide advice to our clients concerning all legal matters relating to the purchase of property or starting up a business in France and will assist in finding qualified architects, builders and other service providers.

L'Affaire Francaise is a family company working with a team of English speaking negotiators specialising in their own particular area in order to provide you with the best properties and the best service wherever you wish to view.

South West France offers any prospective property purchaser a wide range of opportunity for secondary homes, principal residence or rental and investment properties. This region is just a few hours from the UK, however the climate offers long hot summers and short mild winters. Property prices remain considerably lower than in Britain with an average price paid of between 150.000 and 250.000 € (£100.000 to £165.000)

Served by airports at Poitiers, La Rochelle, Limoges and Bordeaux, with high speed train connections from London to Angouleme in six hours and easy road links with both Calais and the Western seaports.

Properties range from the simple farmhouses to grand chateaux normally constructed in local limestone or, in the eastern area around Limoges, from granite. The nature of the agriculture has shaped the architecture and again in the eastern Limousin the rearing of cattle provides many individual farmhouses with pasture and woodland, whilst around Cognac larger houses were constructed in the middle of the 19th century amongst the vineyards with somewhat less private land.

Prices of property have risen generally in France by 10% over 2003 although some areas have seen much steeper increases particularly in the Limousin where remote farmhouses for renovation have risen in price from around 50.000 € to 100.000 €. In the Charente, and particularly around Cognac, the baseline for purchase is 150.000 € (£100.000) whilst a comfortable four bedroom property with a swimming pool will be available for above 400.000 € (£265.000).

L'Affaire Francaise is able and available to provide advice to their clients concerning all legal matters relating to the purchase of property or starting up a business in France and will assist in finding qualified architects, builders and other service providers. Clients are offered all documentation in both English and French. Thus they are able to provide a friendly and professional service throughout this popular region to both purchasers and vendors alike.

Purchasing a property in France is not complicated providing you are dealing with a competent and professional organisation.

L'Affaire Francaise will accompany you through all stages of this procedure to ensure that the purchase of your property in France is made as simple and as pleasant as possible.
