Gatespace

The Company
Gatespace is a leading supplier of Managed Services solutions for managing, provisioning and configuring e-Services (native and OSGi-based) within the Broadband and Telematics markets. Gatespace's carrier-grade e-Services system links the enterprise to the edge of the Internet for broadband and telematics service providers and operators.

Gatespace products provide open integration with existing OSS systems, Java Enterprise Edition J2EE, legacy CRMs, legacy billing systems, databases and network management systems. Designed to be fully compliant with the Open Services Gateway Initiative (OSGi) Service Platform specifications, all Gatespace products support full interoperability between application/content providers, network operators, and service gateway and device manufacturers.

Background
Founded in 1999 by Ericsson and the Swedish research and consulting firm Carlstedt Research & Technology (CR&T), Gatespace initially focused on developing a distributed service platform targeted at broadband and in-vehicle gateways that was based on OSGi specifications.

During 2001, Gatespace extended its offering to also include management and service provisioning products, as well as complete solutions for broadband operators and telematics system developers.

In April of 2002, Gatespace acquired the Ericsson e-services venture, which has been a major customer of Gatespace. Their e-services system, including a carrier grade management system and applications, was developed using Gatespace's distributed service platform (GDSP).

Customers
Gatespace customers are located all over the world, and include major network operators, service gateway manufacturers, and service providers for the broadband, vehicle telematics, elderly-care/health care, residential/home networking, facility management, M2M and other industrial telematics markets.

Telia (Sweden's largest telecommunication operator), Cisco, Bombardier, Ericsson, and Volvo are among Gatespace's customers. Through Ericsson, Gatespace products are included in the first commercial, residential deployment of OSGi based services, being rolled out by E2-Home in Stockholm.

Investors
Ericsson, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, Fuqua Venture Partners, European Equity Partners, Pythagoras Participations, T-bolaget, Bure Equity and CR&T privately fund Gatespace.
