HSL’s extensive portfolio of competitively priced products, coupled with its long experience supplying OEM markets, enables it to provide a fastener service that extends from the design concept stage through to delivering a single source fastener solution that can be used with absolute confidence
The true cost of a fastener is its fitted cost but experience shows that many manufacturers, in concentrating on their own product’s special features, often overlook this critical aspect in their calculations. Correct fastener specification at an early design stage will provide the most cost effective solution. This is particularly true when considering automated assembly of fasteners associated with the product and will result in both product quality and production cost benefits. HSL works with these aims in mind and works with automation companies to provide total automated fastener solutions.
The HSL team offers engineering advice on the suitability of specific fasteners drawn from its extensive range of inserts for plastic mouldings, castings and wood, whether they are to be placed by moulding in or after moulding using of heat staking, ultrasonic welding, screwing in, pressing in, or simple knock in processes.
The company also offers a comprehensive range of special thread forming screws for plastic and castings designed to create a thread form in plastic where the repeatability is guaranteed, without destruction of the substrate. There are products for sheet metal application from the vast array of self clinching products through to rivet bushes and rivet nuts. A range of spring steel fasteners including cage and cal nuts, spring latches and studs, push on fixes and edge clips, as well as the traditional spring steel “U” and “J” type fasteners are also readily available. The plastic and trim fasteners offered by HSL provide lightweight versatile alternatives to the traditional metal industrial fasteners.
Due to its extensive turned and machined products capability, HSL is able to offer bespoke solutions. Where required, HSL offer fasteners manufactured from sophisticated materials such as Nimonic, Hastelloy and Inconel alloys, as well as providing products with surface treatments to provide advanced corrosion resistance complying with the latest ELV, RoHS & WEEE Directives.
