HOERBIGER Automotive Comfort Systems, Location in Schongau (Bavaria)

For around 20 years now, the HOERBIGER group of companies has been operating very successfully as a subcontractor of automotive comfort systems for the automotive industry. The company, a member of the internationally active HOERBIGER corporation based in Schongau, Bavaria, has done exceptionally well over the past few years.

HOERBIGER Automotive Comfort Systems develop and produce hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and mechatronic systems for automotive engineering. The company which employs around 450 people is leading in developing hydraulic and electro-hydraulic convertible top drive systems available for retractable hard tops and soft tops.

Another focal area of development work are the mechatronic drive systems for automatically opening and closing deck lids, liftgates and all kinds of passenger doors. Other lines developed at this plant include control systems for loading platforms and spoiler drives. The ultimate goal is always to meet the end customers’ wishes and demands for more comfort in the car.

HOERBIGER Automotive Comfort Systems pictures itself as a leading niche supplier with highly specialised expertise in the three basic technologies: hydraulics, pneumatics and electronics. In a unique combination this division bundles these basic technologies to form cross-technology solutions for the growing demands of the automotive manufacturers.

Location for the electronic competence in Ammerbuch, Tübingen

In addition to expertise for the car manufacturers, another major field for commercial vehicles has emerged from this business. The third generation of a pneumatic shifting force support unit for commercial vehicle gears is already being developed. In this case too emphasis is clearly on the vehicle manufacturers‘ demands for more comfort in the vehicle thus generating added value for the end consumer.

Further to its headquarters in Schongau, the Automotive comfort systems division specialising in electronics is based in Ammerbuch near Tübingen. Complex cross-technology systems for the vehicle manufacturers are developed here resulting from the customers’ increasing demands for electronic solutions. The inspection and diagnosis technology division for equipping automotive plants continues to play a major role at the Tübingen site.
 

Location in Auburn (Alabama)

The increasing international demand for automotive comfort systems resulted in an additional site being set up in the USA. The manufacturing site founded two years ago in Auburn (Alabama) produces convertible top drives for the BMW Z4 and supplies these components just-in-time to BMW in Spartanburg. Additional projects will be launched on the market soon.

Customer proximity is an essential advantage consistently practised by HOERBIGER Automotive Comfort Systems. In addition to the USA site, the international expansion strategy is also being pursued in the Asian market.

HOERBIGER Automotive Comfort Systems will continue to set itself these challenges in order to consistently extend its international niche position.
