Holton Conform

Holton Machinery Ltd.

Holton Machinery Ltd is renowned in the global extrusion markets as a leader in Conform™ technology for aluminium, enjoying a proven track record in every continent.

However Holton has also supplied about 25% of its Conform™ lines for copper production and, as the sole supplier to the multi-national Outokumpu Copper Products group, has extensive experience of copper Conform™ technology.

The confidence of the industry in Holton Conform™ technology, has been confirmed over the last six months with three orders placed for copper producing Conform™ equipment and a further three orders for aluminium lines.

This is the most successful period of sales since Holton was awarded the Queen's Award for Export 1999. The best practices introduced as part of the ISO 9001 quality procedures, combined with technical excellence of Holton Conform™ machinery has established Holton as the current market leader in the Conform™ industry. Holton take pride in their service to customers and are currently the only Conform™ manufacturer offering customers the assurance of ISO 9001 accreditation.

Hitachi Cables Ltd, the Japanese communications giant with net sales of nearly 300 billion Yen, has placed an order for a Holton Conform™ C500H machine for producing copper products. The order was placed with Holton despite another Conform™ manufacturer having supplied two smaller machines some years ago.

The C500H machine is the largest in Holton's current range and is capable of continuously producing large copper and aluminium extrusions, from a variety of feedstocks. The machine for Hitachi will produce copper strip from 20mm to over 100mm wide, once commissioned at its Tsuchiura works in Japan in 2002.

This significant order is valued at over £1.2 million, representing the first sale of a large machine for copper in the Japanese market. The sale was achieved with extensive assistance from Holton's agents in Japan, Okaya & Co., Ltd.

Holton is currently enjoying sales successes across its global export markets with a further C500H machine, also valued at over £1.2 million, ordered within the European Union. Once commissioned this Conform™ continuous extrusion line will produce a range of copper products.

The third order for a copper producing machine has been placed by an Outokumpu Group company based in Malaysia.

Holton has for some time recognised the potential offered by emerging markets where demand for Conform™ manufactured products is high. Mainly related to infrastructure these include, power cables, telecommunications cables, but also multiport tubing as used in the transport and domestic appliance industries.

At its launch last year The Holton Conform™ 2000 machine heralded a revolution in aluminium Conform™ technology. Following a steady influx of enquiries for the new machine two orders have recently been placed for tubing applications in Europe and Asia.

Spanish tube manufacturer Intubal S.A., publicly praised Holton's commissioning of their Conform™ machine upgrade completed in June of this year. Work is now underway on the first commercial installation of a Conform™ 2000 machine to produce aluminium tubes at Intubal's manufacturing facility in Munguia.

Aluminium is becoming more widely used as a material for the automotive industry with major car manufacturers utilising the metal in their automobiles. Thai manufacturing company, Formula Group has placed an order for a Conform™ 2000 line to be commissioned in the early part of next year. This line is for the purpose of producing aluminium multiport tube for use in automobile air conditioning condenser systems.

Holton Machinery is spearheading research into the use of particulate and powder feedstock for the Conform™ process. This research is enhanced through partnerships with universities and industrial technical centres. Issues of recycling and adding value to scrap materials are gaining prevalence within the industry; Holton's strategic partnerships ensure that they remain central to this development.

A further Holton Conform™ aluminium line has been sold to a European producer for the manufacture of exotic materials from particulate feedstock. This represents the sixth Holton Conform™ line sold over a period of nine months.

To complement these machine sales, Holton's Specialised Production department is receiving regular orders to produce high value products at its manufacturing facility in Bournemouth, UK. This service provides a viable production route for companies who do not wish to commit to the purchase of capital machinery but who require the consistent quality and high tolerances offered by Holton Conform™ machines.
