Hydrogenics is a leading global developer and manufacturer of hydrogen electrolyzers and fuel cell systems serving the growing industrial and clean energy markets of today and tomorrow. At Hydrogenics we are driven by the vision of a dramatically different future – a future where new energy technologies not only contribute to a healthier environment and a better global quality of life, but also surpass the capabilities of today's incumbent energy technologies across a broad range of energy needs and applications.
Our vision is balanced by a pragmatic business strategy that is focused on making hydrogen electrolysis and fuel cell systems work for today’s revenue-generating energy markets. Our expanding technology platform positions Hydrogenics as a world leader in the introduction of hydrogen power products into fully-operational, commercial products, starting with today's early adopting markets. By effectively engaging and penetrating these early adopting markets with increasing volumes of product, the path to tomorrow’s larger commercial markets is becoming clearer and viable.
Long established in the hydrogen marketplace, Hydrogenics has now witnessed a significant market increase in hydrogen as an energy carrier and storage media for renewable energy. Hydrogenics segments its market applications into two categories. Both mobility and stationary segments are served by Hydrogenics Fuel Cell and OnSite Generation product groups, which may be integrated into turn-key systems, or implemented as individual components.
Within the Mobility segment, Hydrogenics fuel cells are used to power fork-lift trucks and other industrial equipment. Meanwhile, Hydrogenics OnSite Generation systems now create hydrogen to help meet the consumer demand for hydrogen refueling stations. Perhaps the most significant applications for Hydrogenics systems are those using Hydrogen as storage for Renewable Energy Sources.
As electricity demand continues to grow, cost of fossil fuels continues to escalate, and concern for environmental impact increases, interest and investment in renewable resources is on the rise. Many governments around the world are aggressively promoting renewable energy such as wind and solar power through the use of incentives and renewable portfolio standards. Wind and solar power provide access to a stable source of energy, independent of fossil fuel commodity fluctuations and global political forces. In addition, technology advancements in electrolysis, storage, and fuel cells have positioned hydrogen as a viable means of energy storage.
Based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Hydrogenics has operations in North America, Europe and Asia.
