Jobcentre Plus helps employers fill their jobs, and increases the labour market by supporting individuals from welfare into work. We offer a range of options that can be tailored locally to meet your specific business needs. Our staff know about the people available locally, and other useful information about the local labour market. Understanding different industry sectors means they’ll also appreciate how your business methods influence the way you recruit.
You may already be aware of Jobcentre Plus through our network of offices across the UK. Older-style Jobcentres are being upgraded in a continuing programme of change. Both types of office feature electronicJobpoint terminals, which link visitors to one of the largest job databases in the world. People looking for work can also access the database through our website www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk, or by telephoning our Jobseeker Direct service.
Understanding the healthcare sector
Our network of healthcare account manages work in partnership with local
colleagues to ensure that recruitment issues and pressures in the healthcare
sector are understood; and assist staff locally to proactively support
employers’ requirements.
The account managers engage both strategically and practically with local healthcare organisations. In the healthcare sector we specifically engage with Workforce Development Confederations (WDCs), as well as established partners such as the Department of Health and Strategic Health Authorities, to promote Jobcentre Plus and ensure we become their healthcare recruitment partner of choice.
In addition we work with key private sector employers - private, voluntary and charitable hospitals and nursing homes. In addition we support recruitment in the social care sector, delivered through private and public residential homes.
Healthcare account managers also support local staff by taking forward the care sector recruitment agenda and ensuring that all potential avenues for vacancies are explored. They work with other recruitment specialists of the Jobcentre Plus team to make sure the short, medium and long-term recruitment aims of healthcare employers are met; supporting the delivery of the recruitment aims set within this Government’s NHS Plan and private sector HR strategies.
Working with Wolverhampton NHS Trust
A jobs bank created by Wolverhampton City Primary Care Trust, and
administered by Jobcentre Plus, has ensured that the hospital will never
again be short of facilities staff.
This bank, which is similar to existing Administrative and Clerical (A&C) and Nurse jobs banks, works by providing local people with temporary jobs on an "as and when" basis.
Eileen Hamann from Wolverhampton Primary Care Trust, said:
| "The development of these job banks was only possible because we worked so closely with Jobcentre Plus. In fact, we could not imagine organising an event, such as a "Jobshop Day", without them." |
Francis Brady, Healthcare Sales Manager from Jobcentre Plus, said:
| "Jobcentre Plus is able to tailor the services it provides to suit each local NHS Trust, and the wide variety of jobs they offer. The Facilities and A&C Jobs Banks are an excellent example of how we can adapt our services for the National Health Service as it helps to address some of the staffing shortfalls that Trusts are faced with." |
