Kazatomprom is Kazakhstan’s national organization for export and import of uranium and other materials of dual purpose.

Kazatomprom is a holding company managing the following main activities:

• geological exploration
• uranium production
• fuel fabrication
• fuel cycle management and services
• energy
• scientific support.

More than 25000 people work in the Company today.

Kazatomprom provides the following products and services:

• Natural uranium concentrate;
• Ceramic grade low enriched Uranium dioxide powder;
• Fuel pellets for LWR including pellets with Rep U;
• Front end scraps processing.

Given the forecasts on nuclear growth as well as increasing uranium supply shortage from all other existing sources, Kazakhstan will, evidently, soon become one of the major suppliers for reactors around the world.

One fifth of the World's reserves of uranium, in reasonably assured reserves category, is located in Kazakhstan; with more than 70% suitable for underground or in situ leaching – a mining method, where Kazatomprom has unparalleled experience and skills.

In 2007 Kazakhstan reported total of 6,637 metric tons uranium mined, demonstrating a 25.7% increase compared to 5,281 tons in 2006. The 2008 production target is 9,600 mtu. However, to meet the growing global demand for uranium the company plans to produce 15,000 mtu per year from 2010. With the most valuable asset we have – our qualified personnel – we are confident in reaching the goal.

By signing agreements for creation of conversion, enrichment and fuel assembly production facilities with global key players, of the nuclear power market, Kazatomprom completed, in 2008, the building up of a transnational vertically integrated company.

Today the Company deals with practical implementation of agreements reached in the following fields:

1. Establishment of uranium hexafluoride production facility
2. Establishment of uranium enrichment facility
3. Fuel pellet certification
4. Establishment of end product (fuel assemblies) manufacturing facility to meet world nuclear power demand
5. Construction of Nuclear Power Plant
