DELIVERING PROJECTS TO THE ALUMINIUM INDUSTRY

EXPERIENCE

K Home International Ltd has been providing engineering and project management services to leading Primary Aluminium Companies for more than 30 years and has today gained a reputation of being one of the world's leading engineering companies in the design of Aluminium Smelters.

Over the last ten years KHI has designed and project managed several of major works in the Primary Aluminium Smelting Industry bringing more than 500,000 tonnes on new annual capacity into the world market.

These works include the "Falcon", "Condor" and "Kestrel" expansion projects for DUBAL, the Dubai Aluminium Company and the greenfield Nordural Smelter built in Iceland for Columbia Ventures Corporation.

The DUBAL projects, carried out between 1995 and 2004, have increased the smelter’s production capacity from 250,000 tpa to 700,000 tpa – whilst the Nordural Smelter, 60,000 tpa capacity achieved first metal in a record 14 months from start of construction.

In 2004 Alcan’s Lynemouth smelter commissioned its HALE project (High Amperage Low Energy project with the assistance of KHI’s EPCM services. This capacity creep project allows the smelter produce more metal for a very modest capital expenditure.

In addition to the above mentioned projects KHI’s involvement in primary aluminium smelters extends to projects in UK, Bahrain, Canada, Malaysia, Romania, Iran and Venezuela. The services provided range from feasibility studies for complete new smelters and upgrading of existing facilities to EPCM (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management) of major construction projects with total installed costs exceeding US$500 million. This project experience and knowledge extends to all areas of a modern pre-bake smelter including raw material import, HV power, pot-rooms, anode manufacture and casting.

KHI’s engineers and management are focused on ‘doing the job right’ by providing the highest quality with respect to technical aspects of engineering and to also with respect to quality of service delivery. All work carried out by KHI’s offices is controlled by a thorough Quality Management System accredited to ISO 9001.

The company has invested in the latest design tools including intelligent 3-D design modelling systems which can be integrated with plant maintenance, training, operations and management tools to ensure efficiencies in the future operation of the business.
