History and Today

Kipp & Zonen B.V. is a privately owned company with the head office and manufacturing facility located in Delft, The Netherlands and is well known for its expertise and the innovation, quality, and performance of its products.

The company was founded in Delft in 1830 by P.J. Kipp, who became world famous for his regulated gas generator. This unique glass laboratory instrument, the "Kipp Generator", still forms part of our logo today. By 1927 Kipp's extensive catalogue of scientific instruments already contained Pyranometers, called Solarimeters at that time, and associated recording instruments.

Today, Kipp & Zonen is a leader in providing scientific solutions to the meteorology, climatology, agronomy, hydrology, public health, renewable energy, environmental and industrial markets for the measurement of solar radiation and atmospheric properties. We design, manufacture, and sell world-wide, instruments for the measurement of solar and sky radiation, from the Ultraviolet to the Far Infrared, including sun trackers and accessories.

The Brewer Spectrophotometer, Scintillometers, Sky Radiometers, Temperature Profilers and LIDAR Systems all form part of our Atmospheric Science Instruments range. We pursue opportunities and strategic partnerships in order to take advantage of technology developments to provide the scientific community with the most complete integrated range available of high quality instrumentation and support services for our target markets; in particular those related to climate change, global warming and solar energy.

	Recorders & Data Acquisitionn Flatbed chart recorders in single and dual channel formats. Multi-channel programmable data recorders with built in printing facilities. Specialised data-loggers and software for use with solar radiation and atmospheric science instruments.
