When I tell people about Lingo Link, the first thing they say to me is, “so you speak Fluent Spanish then?” No, I don’t. Like many, I know a little, enough to get by, but sometimes that just is not enough. That is why I set up Lingo-Link.

When I first moved to Spain, I found myself in many situations, where my little knowledge of the language just was not good enough. They are many companies who do not have English speaking staff, or the information you need to know has to be precise. When you first buy a home abroad there is a host of paperwork that needs attention, not knowing the language can be a major stumbling block.

Sometimes there are friends around you to help, who can speak Spanish, but it is not fair to keep calling on people. Plus, they are not always free when you need them. That is why I felt there was a gap, not merely a translator, but someone to guide you in your time of need, a way to help you integrate, a channel to use Spanish servicemen, and someone who is always there, if there is an emergency.

I have put together a wonderful team of bi-lingual people. Each one of them loves the fact they are able to help people. It is not just a job to them; every time they put the phone down, they know they helped someone. Of course it is not just when you first move, many people are never able to learn Spanish, or do not learn enough to deal with difficult situations. One comment we hear a lot is, that although people speak Spanish, they find it very hard over the phone.

Lingo-Link helps you with phone calls, using our 3 way call facility; we can speak to you, and the Spanish person, at the same time. We can deal with any questions you, or they, have, as they arise.

Lingo-Link can also help you when you are talking to someone face-to-face; you just call, explain the problem, give the phone to the Spanish person, and then we will explain what was said.

Lingo-Link can also do rough translations of Spanish letters, or documents. Often you do not want to go to the expense of an “official” translation. You can fax the letter, or document, to us, and then call us for an explanation of the letter.

Lingo-Link will also be happy to find local specialist servicemen, or companies, that can help you. In fact Lingo-Link can help with almost every aspect of your life in Spain.

So that is the story behind how Lingo-Link came to be. It was because I felt lost and isolated when I first arrived in Spain and did not know how to wade through the Spanish “red tape”. By using Lingo-Link, it no longer needs to be a headache, and you can really enjoy the lifestyle you came here for!
