Lufthansa - There's no better way to fly

Lufthansa is the world's largest international carrier with more than 29 million of its 44 million passengers in 2001 crossing national boundaries. From the UK and Ireland, we fly nearly 500 services a week from seven airports to nine German cities, and have more flights out of London Heathrow than any other non-British carrier.

Services from London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle, Dublin and London City connect conveniently and competitively into our extensive world-wide network serving more than 100 destinations in Europe and 330 destinations worldwide.

Passengers flying on long-haul routes have the choice between First Class with flat beds, Business and Economy class. In a collaborative development programme with Boeing, a Lufthansa 747-400 has become the world's first airliner with broadband internet connectivity onboard. Trials will begin early in 2003 to assess customer preferences in preparation for the airline's entire long-haul fleet to be equipped.

Short-haul services offer Business and Economy Class. In Business Class customers don't just benefit from exclusive lounges, dedicated Check-in areas and a greater luggage allowance, but also from our "Taste of Europe" programme featuring culinary specialities and selected wines on board.

Frequent travellers will benefit from Lufthansa's Miles and More programme which offers them the chance to earn and redeem miles not only with Lufthansa but also with partner companies, including car-hire and hotels. After a certain level of miles is achieved Miles & More members can enjoy various extras such as lounge access, waitlist priority, booking guarantee (conditions apply) and higher luggage allowance.

Lufthansa's two hubs at Frankfurt and Munich offer efficient and hassle-free connections with all Lufthansa flights arriving and leaving from the same Terminal - which is why we have been Europe's most punctual hub carrier in the first half of 2002.

The development of Lufthansa's two-hub strategy to expand its long-haul connections from Frankfurt and Munich is backed by a major investment in a second terminal at Munich. Scheduled to open in Summer 2003, it has been designed and built in partnership between Lufthansa and Munich Airport for the exclusive use of Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners.

Lufthansa pioneered Quick Check-in machines to beat the queues when travelling with hand luggage only. etix® - the new technology for paperless travel - makes travelling more convenient as well. It can't be lost or left behind and it is extremely flexible, so changes can be made at short notice before departure. etix® fares are discounted and currently available in the UK from London Heathrow, London City, Manchester and Birmingham.

In 1997 Lufthansa was a founding member of the Star Alliance- the world's first global airline alliance. The Star Alliance network enhances the travel opportunities for our customers, offering 729 destinations and more than 500 lounges around the globe. Passengers can earn and redeem points on the frequent flyer programme of each Star Alliance carrier.

At the end of 2001 of 2001 the Lufthansa Group's fleet comprised 334 jets with an average age of 8.1 years, which is considerably younger than the world fleet. Our aircraft are fuel-efficient and compliant with the latest noise regulations. With firm orders for new, modern aircraft such as the Airbus A 380 Lufthansa will further ensure to offer it's costumers the highest standards in airtravel.
