Wide expertise in alumina and aluminium processing

Outokumpu Technology has wide expertise of alumina and aluminium production technologies in three competence centres:

• Outokumpu Technology GmbH, Oberursel, Germany (formerly Lurgi Metallurgie GmbH) designs and delivers alumina calciners The advanced alumina calcining process is based on the circulating fluid bed technology. It represents today a world market share of about 40 % of the installed alumina calcination capacity.
• Outokumpu Technology GmbH, Cologne, Germany (formerly KHD Aluminium Technology GmbH) specializes in green anode plants, carbon scrap crushing systems, bath treatment plants, as well as rodding shops for primary aluminium smelters, and products for the carbon and graphite industry.
• Outokumpu Technology Ltd., Burlington, Canada (formerly AISCO Systems Inc.) specializes in complete process equipment for anode rodding shops and casthouses for primary aluminium smelters as well as the treatment of SPL. Rodding shop equipment includes fully automated systems for loading/unloading of anode assemblies to the P&F conveyor, bath removal and butt cleaning for in-line and multi-pin spider assemblies and the stripping of carbon and thimbles. Full anode mating and casting stations as well as ancillary equipment including rod repair equipment is also available. For the casthouse, Outokumpu Technology provides complete systems for ingot casting and casting of jumbo sows up to 35 tph. Billet sawlines and handling equipment as well as complete T-Bar and rolling slab handling systems are also available.

‘Outokumpu Copper Products Oy’, of which Outokumpu Holton Ltd is a part, now has a new owner, the Nordic private equity firm ‘Nordic Capital’, based in Stockholm, Sweden.

‘Nordic Capital’ has a strong and proven track record in owning and developing industrial companies since 1989. Under this new ownership, Outokumpu Copper will continue its strong industrial approach focusing on competitiveness and new product offerings.

Outokumpu Copper and its businesses will continue to trade under the present names during a transition period of up to 12 months.
