RENEWABLE
ENERGY 2008
Edited by Professor Ali Sayigh |
OVERVIEW
It
is expected that 60% of all our energy will come from renewable energy by
the year 2070. The World Solar Summit, World Solar Decade and the World
Bank have allocated over two billion dollars to projects dealing with renewable
energy and the environment. This clearly demonstrates the importance of
renewable energy as the new source of power for the future. Most of the
renewable energy sources are expected to increase investment in developing
new technologies to advance further their efficiency and at the same time
their economic attractiveness.
This edition of Renewable Energy 2008,
the official publication of the World Renewable Energy Network (WREN), provides
senior executives in the renewable energy sector with all they need to know
about new developments, advances in technology, management issues and environmental
matters. The publication also provides a unique forum for the exchange of
the latest industry and government thinking.
Designed to be used by senior decision making executives in the renewable
energy industry worldwide, Renewable Energy 2008
will be read by those responsible for the purchase of technologies, systems,
equipment and resources that will enable governments and countries to use
renewable energy to a greater extent as a primary source of energy. In addition,
copies will be distributed to all delegates attending the World Renewable
Energy Congress and Exhibition to be held in Glasgow, Scotland, between
19th and 25th July 2008.
WORLD RENEWABLE ENERGY NETWORK (WREN)
WREN
was established during the second World Renewable Energy Congress in the
UK and is today one of the most effective organisations in supporting and
enhancing the utilization and implementation of renewable energy sources
that are both environmentally safe and economically sustainable. WREN achieves
this through a worldwide network of agencies, institutions, companies and
individuals and represents most countries in the world.
The organisation is affiliated to UNESCO and maintains close links
with many United Nations, governmental and non-governmental organisations.
