Senn Chemicals is a privately owned company specialised in custom development and manufacturing according to current international regulatory requirements.

Senn Chemicals was founded in 1963 by Mr. Guido Senn with the purpose of manufacturing high quality fine chemicals for research. Since then we remained always active in offering new and innovative building blocks. The latest innovations brought to market are the so called “NXO-modified Amino Acids”, which have been exclusively licensed from the Vienna University of Technology or a series of Arginine homologues offering important features in the design of new peptide drugs.

Beside the development of new and innovative building blocks Senn Chemicals has evolved quickly into a world leader for the large scale production of short peptides and carbohydrates under cGMP conditions.

The headquarter and the production facilities are located in Switzerland, but in order to serve the American market in a quick way, we founded in 1998 a continuously expanding R&D and pilot scale facility with a sales office in San Diego, USA.

Meanwhile Senn Chemicals is not only a leader in the cGMP custom manufacture of small peptides and other derivatives for the pharmaceutical, biotechnological and cosmetic industry, but also a well recognized partner for the whole development chain from lead optimisation to product launch.

Technologies

Senn Chemicals has built a strong portfolio of chemical know-how and manufacturing expertise over several decades.

All types of chemical reactions such as alkylations, acylations, amidations, aminations, carboxylations, condensations, coupling reactions, cyclisations, degradations reactions, esterfications, glycosidations, halogenations, oxidations & reductions or polymerisations are carried out in our facilities. Furthermore, we have gained a depth in knowledge in all kinds of asymmetric synthesis such as asymmetric alkylations, oxidations, reductions or epoxidations.

Facilities

Senn Chemicals provides an advanced environment to perform process research, development, manufacturing and commercial production of APIs and critical intermediates. Senn Chemicals has several production lines with a batch capacity of up to hundreds of kilograms. Our state of the art equipment includes reactor sizes of 25L to 2500L (in sum more than 30m3) including multipurpose reactors and a low temperature reactor. For down-stream processing we are equipped with different kinds of filters, nutsches, ovens and dryers.

Quality & Safety

Since 1983 our facilities have been regularly inspected for compliance to cGMP standards by the Swiss authorities (Swissmedic).

Furthermore Senn Chemicals is an ISO 9001-2000 certified company and has been successfully inspected by the FDA and by our customers.

For 45 years Senn Chemicals has shown a steady growth into new and expanding markets. Since the beginning our philosophy was to form and maintain a close and personal partnership with our customers in order to fully understand their needs.
