Spire Solar is a leading supplier of solar electric module manufacturing equipment, turnkey production lines and solar energy businesses. Spire Solar Equipment Operations in Bedford were recently awarded a $2.7 million contract to provide a SPI-LINE™ turnkey photovoltaic (PV) module production line to ATmicro Solar, a new company in Cyprus. This integrated module assembly line, to be operational by year-end, is specifically designed for ATmicro Solar.

Spire offers a variety of state-of-the-art turnkey module assembly lines to meet any production level. Standard turnkey integrated manufacturing lines (SPI-LINES) are designed to produce modules at annual production rates of 500 kilowatts or greater. Spire also offers a series of SPI-LINES specifically designed and field tested for customers who wish to manufacture specialty modules. Spire offers production lines for manufacturing thin film modules. These production lines start with thin film substrates (photovoltaic materials deposited on glass), which are then laminated, framed and tested.

Spire Solar Chicago
Spire Solar Chicago is a full-service PV manufacturing and system business established in 1999 in cooperation with the City of Chicago, Commonwealth Edison, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs, and BP Solar. The Company builds solar panels, integrates them into PV systems, and installs and maintains the systems. Spire assists customers with system design and post-sale service and support, including acquisition of grants and utility interconnection. Since the installation process requires specialized training, Spire conducts workshops to familiarize local building inspectors and electricians with PV systems. To date, Spire Solar Chicago has installed approximately 500 kW of PV systems within the City of Chicago; representative installations include schools, museums, commercial facilities, residences and the like.
