De Telegraaf Holding Company has its headquarters in Amsterdam, where it all began in 1893. From its beginnings as just one of a number of national dailies serving the country from Amsterdam, De Telegraaf has prospered and grown into one of the largest printing and publishing combines in the Netherlands. The main product of the Holding Company is still De Telegraaf newspaper, the Netherlands' biggest national daily.
Nowadays, the Holding Company activities encompass printing and publishing of newspapers, magazines, free local weeklies and other publications. We also have our own distribution network and interests in several other printing and publishing activities.
Furthermore the Holding Company is active in the field of audiovisual and electronic media. The daily newspapers De Telegraaf and Leidsch Dagblad, and the magazines (a.o. Oor and Personal Finance) have their own site on Internet. De Telegraaf-i has developed into one of the most visited sites in the Netherlands (www.telegraaf.nl). De Telegraaf Holding Company has its own local radio station, and has a 75 % interest in Media Groep West, which publishes NieuwsNet 9, a local tv-newspaper. The Holding Company also has a 30 % interest in SBS6, a national commercial tv-station.
In 1998 the average number of people employed by De Telegraaf Holding Company was about 5,000 in full-time equivalents. The net turnover was Dfl. 1,520 billion, 51 % came from advertising. The net profit was NLG 145.2 million

De Telegraaf is printed in Amsterdam, from where it is distributed by our own transport organization to all parts of the Netherlands and beyond. It is being delivered 6 days a week to the doormat by 7,000 delivery boys before 7 am, and available in 20 countries.
The average circulation is about 808,300 copies, which makes it by far the biggest newspaper in the Netherlands. During summer it even exceeds 1 million, partly due to the increase of foreign sales during the holiday period.
The average reach of De Telegraaf is 2.4 million people, that is 18.8 % of the Dutch population aged 13 years and older.
This company in the south of the Netherlands publishes the Limburgs Dagblad, a large regional newspaper, together with their free local weekly De Trompetter. Limburgs Dagblad has a circulation of 85,923 copies.
Limburgs Dagblad also prints the European editions of Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Asahi Shimbun and the Marca.
De Telegraaf Holding Company is owner of De Gooi- en Eemlander as of January 1st, 1997. They are publisher of a regional daily with a circulation of 47,704 copies and 2 free local weeklies which are distributed in the southeastern part of Noord-Holland ('t Gooi). Furthermore they are publisher of 4 teletext newspapers.
As of June 21st, 1999, SP!TS, a new free morning newspaper is distributed during the rush hour among public transport travellers, from Monday to Friday in the Western/Central part of the Netherlands. It is a stapled, tabloid sized newspaper, containing general news as well as financial news. Circulation 200,000 copies.
Within the Hollandse Dagblad Combinatie small and big are combined. On the one hand they are the publisher of 11 regional daily newspapers in the provinces Noord-Holland and Zuid-Holland with a total circulation of 260,454 copies. They also publish a free local weekly with a total circulation of 398,700, divided into 8 editions.
On the other hand they have a number of companies especially aimed at the production, printing, transportation and (door-to-door) distribution of newspapers, brochures, posters and other printed matter.
Holland Combinatie is the trade name of the cooperation of five publishers. They each publish free local weeklies in different parts of the Netherlands. The total circulation is 1,994,900 copies, divided into 64 editions.
Distributed in the northern part of Noord-Holland, a total of 9 editions with a circulation of 348,900 copies.
Distributed in Amsterdam and the surrounding area, a total of 14 editions with a circulation of 553,050 copies.
Distributed in the southern part of Noord-Holland and the northern part of Zuid-Holland, a total of 22 editions with a circulation of 298,300 copies.
Distributed in the Noord-Holland/Utrecht region, a total of 6 editions with a circulation of 178,600 copies.
Tabloid Sunday newspaper. Distributed in almost the entire province of Noord-Holland, a total of 13 editions with a circulation of 616,050 copies.
Basis Media is active in acquiring and organizing printing, administrative and sales orders from independant magazines.
A lot of magazines leave the selling of advertising space, subscription administration or distribution to the large organization of De Telegraaf Holding Company.

NieuwsNet 9 is a kind of tv-newspaper which has its own channel on the Amsterdam cable tv, broadcasting 24 hours per day. It contains news pages, information on public events and advertisements. They also have a teletext service.
A local radio station which broadcasts 24 hours per day in Amsterdam and the surroundings. The programmes consist mainly of easy listening music, local news bulletins, service messages and commercials. Radio Amsterdam is not only broadcasted via the Amsterdam cable but also via air, so this station can also be received via car radio.
