Toyota, a real European player
Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) is one of the world’s
largest
automobile manufacturers, selling over 9.3 million vehicles in 2007
1 on all five continents. Toyota today has
53 manufacturing companies in 27 countries and regions outside Japan, and
markets vehicles in more than 170 countries worldwide, supported by a consolidated
workforce of over 300,000 people.
A Top 10 Fortune Global 500 2 enterprise,
Toyota has once again received a top ranking in Fortune’s list of Global
Most Admired Companies, where it was named as the most socially and
environmentally
responsible automaker 3, winning top marks
in the industry as well for global presence, long-term investment and financial
soundness.
Toyota first began selling cars in Europe under an official distributor
agreement in Europe in 1963. Toyota Motor Europe (TME) has grown into a
truly European player, both geographically and in terms of market share
– with the goal of putting its customers first.
Last year was a remarkable time for Toyota in Europe, as it marked the
11th consecutive year of record sales, with 1,238,638 cars having been sold
here in 2007. Other notable recent achievements have included the start
of production on the company’s 9th European manufacturing plant in Russia;
the opening of a 29th National Marketing & Sales company in Romania; and
the launch in Spain of a 10th Vehicle Logistics Centre.
In Europe, for Europe
Toyota believes in a policy of localising its vehicles and sales to meet
the specific needs of Europe’s varied customers:
- European Head office in Brussels, Belgium
- 29 National Marketing and Sales Companies covering 48 European countries
- a network of 2884 sales outlets around Europe
- Design Development Centre (EDČ) in France and Technical Centre for
R&D in Belgium
- 9 manufacturing plants located throughout Europe
- 14 Parts Logistics Centres & 10 Vehicle Logistics Centres across
Europe
- 80,000 employees in Europe, both directly and through retailer channels
- Over €7 billion invested throughout Europe since 1990
- Two-thirds of Toyota cars sold in Europe are produced in Europe
When searching for a quality fleet partner, there are several key points
well worth considering. With Toyota In Business a new phase
was entered of enhancing the offer to business customers throughout Europe.
Toyota cars are built the ‘Toyota Way’, a widely recognized business
principle of continuous improvement. This has helped to create an extensive
range of innovative, attractive, quality models that will answer your fleet
requirements.
Cost is clearly an important factor too; Toyota fleet cars are ranked
among the top models in terms of residual value. Therefore Toyota can offer
a competitive Total Cost of Ownership.
In addition Toyota regularly tops the polls in independent surveys for
safety and driver satisfaction. In 2007 Lexus was ranked No 1 for the 7th
consecutive year in the UK J.D. Power & Associates’ Customer Satisfaction
Study. And, in the same year, Prius also achieved top position in J.D. Power
Studies in the UK, Germany and France.
Another major consideration: Toyota’s aim is to make cars more environmentally-friendly
over their entire life-cycle. So by choosing Toyota you not only protect
your people, but also our planet.
