TPS is a research and development company dedicated to the clean production of heat and electricity from biomass and waste fuels. Based in Nyköping, Sweden, TPS maintains a well-equipped laboratory in which test work is performed in combustion and gasification equipment from bench-scale up to pilot plants of 2 MW capacity.
TPS is a very experienced company and is well known within the scientific community for its innovative research and development. Commercial demonstration of the fruits of this R&D plays an increasing role in the activities of the company, a trend which is expected to continue in the coming years.
Many of the R&D projects managed by TPS have lead to the development of technologies that have been applied on a commercial basis. Typical of these technologies are the fluidised bed combustion and gasification processes, both of which are now in commercial operation in different parts of the World.
Commercialisation of the technologies is normally achieved through technology licensing and joint venture companies. However, the results of R&D projects are increasingly being applied in commercially operating plants in Sweden through contracts in which TPS acts as main contractor.

A major on-going project in which TPS is involved is Project ARBRE in the
United Kingdom. This project receives financial support from the EU Thermie
programme. The aim of the project is the construction and commercial
operation of a "first-of-a-kind" wood-fuelled integrated gasification
combined-cycle (IGCC) plant. TPS is part of the joint venture company ARBRE
Energy Limited set up to manage the project. The plant is presently under
going commissioning and is expected to be in full commercial operation by
mid. 2001. More information on this project can be found on
