Exciting Times for Northern Cyprus

The North Cyprus property market was for many years overshadowed by the border dispute between the Greek South and Turkish Northern parts of the Island. Since the opening of the border a couple of years ago, the Northern Cyprus Property market has boomed. Strict environmental controls all along the coast and a vast area of national parks and beauty spots have ensured sympathetic and strict building controls, which have made the north one of the most beautiful residential environments in the Mediterranean.

The North Cypriot Government has just taken the dramatic step of freezing all planning permissions on all new projects on the North coast of Cyprus. This announcement coincides with the talks that have just been arranged between Kofi Annan and President Talat and to which the Greek Cypriot Government has been invited. The UN is now making an all out attempt to settle the Cyprus issue before Kofi Annan steps down. It is rumoured that the U.S.A. is behind the current flurry of diplomacy. Further, it has been suggested that if there is no major shift before the end of the year from the current intransigent position of the Greek side, then the U.S.A. will unilaterally recognise North Cyprus.

It now seems inevitable that a permanent resolution is now in sight and prices in the north will inevitably rocket to mirror those in the south.

"We have barely been able to cope with the demand up until now and although we are delighted with the news, fully expect to be taking on a much larger team to cope with the demand in the new year" says Pat Jaques, M.D. of Turtle bay properties. The firm has been operating for over 20 years specialising in Costa del Sol property sales and in 2004 expanded into the then immature northern Cyprus Property market to act as development and sales consultants for a major local developer.

Using the same marketing principles as we employ in southern Spain, that is to say only promoting high quality products at the most competitive prices, we enjoyed rapid successes and whilst we remain a fairly small operation, we are arguably the most successful estate agents in the North Cyprus property market.

"Our products are vetted carefully and offer high standards of construction and finish, superb locations and great value for money. All of our current properties have full planning permission so we will avoid any freezes at the planning department. Our clients without exception have seen their investments grow in a matter of months and we fully expect the local market to explode." Comments Pat.

The buying process is more relaxed than you might expect, and Turtle bay Properties local team are very professional, but let us say, work at a local pace. You will never feel pressured and can be confident that you will only see the best homes on the island.

Come for an inspection trip and see this beautiful part of the Mediterranean for yourself. You can place a refundable, transferable deposit on a property today and book a visit for the New Year, which will effectively freeze the price until you have seen the property for yourself.

Its and old cliché but these prices cannot stay this low for long.
