In addition to the wind farms and coal fired power plants in its latest portfolio, Zorlu is also in search of energy production from geothermal and other renewable energy resources.

As a company sensitive and respectful to the public, nature and environmental issues the Zorlu Energy Group has equipped all of the natural gas fired power plants with water injection systems that ensure NOX emissions are below the limits prescribed by the World Bank. In this way, waste heat is used to produce steam instead of being discharged into the atmosphere, resulting in more environment-friendly power generation.

Zorlu Energy Group, possesses the ISO 9001 Quality Management, ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems and OHSAS18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems certificates, and implements aforementioned systems successfully.

The Zorlu Energy Group has seven power stations located in Lüleburgaz, Bursa, Ankara, Kayseri, and Yalova, which together have a total installed production capacity of 420 MW. These plants supply electricity and steam to industrial enterprises.

Detailed feasibility are currently in progress for the construction of hydroelectric power plants in the province of Muğla on the Dalaman River at Sandalcık (127.8 MW) and Narlı (82.5 MW), which the licences have been obtained for both in 2007. Feasibility and licensing studies are also in progress for a hydroelectric power plant to be located in Tirebolu.

Studies proceed to generate electricity in Turkey’s biggest wind farm with installed capacity of 135MW in Bahçe town of Osmaniye.

The Zorlu Energy Group is currently installing infrastructure under the natural gas distribution contracts that it was awarded in the Trakya and Gaziantep regions. In addition to distribution activities, natural gas drilling and production activities also proceed in areas for which licenses have been issued.

Project studies are currently under way to build a wind-powered turbine in Pakistan that will have a 50 megawatt capacity.
